When to reserve wedding venue?

Renee, on August 9, 2021 at 10:27 AM Posted in Planning 0 22
Hello all!

We set our wedding date for Nov 11th, 2022. Obviously we are more than a year away from that day. So far I called our church to reserve with the priest for that day, but I'm getting conflicting answers on when to reserve with the venue. On top of that, lots of advice comes from a time before Covid, so I'm just not sure when to get this task done. Any help?

I am getting married 11.13.21 and I booked my venue in August of 2020. So if you know for sure what venue you would like, I think now would be an okay time to book it.

Reserve the venue ASAP— you can’t actually set a date officially until you have a place to have the wedding in that date ! No reason to delay if you’ve found your dream venue already

If you're set on one exact day, prepare that you may have to change your plans because many venues are already booked through 2022. If you won't do a different date or different officiant, you'll have to start asking other venues.

We're definitely set on the day. We have a top venue in mind, but its not end-all-be-all if we don't get it. Theres several venues around our area to choose from. The top venue already knows we're interested. Just wanted to see if I wait a few weeks would that still be too soon to reserve.

I would book the venue ASAP. Since so many people have postponed due to COVID, dates are limited for especially 2021 as well as 2022. If you have your heart set on that date and a specific venue, I would lock it in as soon as you can. If you aren't ready to reserve it yet for any reason, or if you aren't able to pay the deposit yet, you can always ask the venue to put a soft hold on your date until you are ready to reserve it.

We booked out October 2022 wedding in January.
From experience of my friends and family, booking 1-2 years in advance is expected.

We booked our venue for our 10.10.2020 wedding in March 2019. With Covid, like the others have said, I suggest booking all your major vendors as quick as possible. Availability will be limited because of all the postponements.

I’m in the camp of booking as soon as you’re able to. Not only do you get the venue you want, but then your date is secured. I would personally be so upset if I waited just to wait and then found that someone else came and booked my date with the venue I wanted. For what it’s worth, we booked our venue in September 2018 for our original July 2020 date.

I would book ASAP. Since Covid numbers are rising again, it wouldn’t surprise me if some couples postpone fall weddings this year to fall next year. Even if the venue knows you’re interested, that won’t stop other couples from booking before you do.

Look for venues ASAP. We picked a date and set it with our church. We then began contacting venues and seeing if they had that date available. Some did not but offered close dates that were open. One of our top choices had our date so we went with that venue. If you find a venue you love for another date, you can always check with your church and see if they could move your reservation to that date.

I always suggest looking for a venue ASAP. All of the weddings that were canceled or postponed last year, are booking up this year and next. Plus Covid numbers are on the rise again, and you don't know how your state will react to it.

Our wedding is in January 2022, we got engaged July 2020, and booked our venue November 2020. The venue owner actually told us she was glad we decided to book so early.

Book it as soon as possible. There are so many people rescheduling 2020 weddings, everything is filling up fast. We're getting married May 2022 and I've booked everything except the caterer and officiant. I'm going dress shopping in a month,

We booked our venue for our September 2022 wedding in January 2021, dates were already filling up fast for 2022 and we wanted a specific weekend so we acted fast.

Book as soon as the venue allows.

Some venues have cut-off dates - for example, mine does not allow booking more than 18 months in advance.

But if your preferred venue will allow you to book now, book now.

Book your venues now to get the date locked in. Many postponements are stacked on top of each other so that venue availability is limited even for 2022.

I’m getting married 11.5.22 and had the venue booked July 10th. Book it sooner then later that way you get what you want/envisioned especially if you have a specific. Good luck!

Book your venue ASAP. If you do not have a venue booked, then technically you do not have an official wedding date.

No reason to wait if you already have the venue you want in mind, book it. We're getting married October 2022 and booked ours this past May. They already had some dates booked that month, and we're lucky the one we wanted was available.
