When to send invitations?

Sarah, on June 21, 2022 at 5:50 PM Posted in Planning 5 9
I’m getting married September 17.. When do we send the invitations back? Is it 6 weeks before the wedding or 8 weeks? They are coming in the mall on Saturday and I’m SO excited 🤗

    Got it! lol. That's exciting!

Anytime between 6-8 weeks with an RSVP about a week before the caterer final head count is what's normally done.

6-8 weeks before the wedding is when they are sent. The reply due date is usually 4 weeks before the wedding with a week buffer so you can track down anyone who did not reply to get an accurate headcount. Don’t send them earlier than 8 weeks because guests will forget and lose the information and don’t send them after 6 weeks because guests will know they are seat fillers.

    When to send invitations? 1
The bad news is that I made RSVP cards and I put the deadline to August 6th when I should have put it to August 27th 😳 that means I’ll have to send my invitations out 10 weeks ahead to give them 4 weeks to send in responses

I would just roll with it! We made a last minute decision to get married this year and as we didn't have a chance to send out save the dates way in advance we opted to just get our invites out asap. They got send out about 12 weeks before the wedding and its been working just fine

We have the same date and because ours is basically a destination for everyone (everyone has to travel more than 1 hour) and half our guests are out of state, we're sending at 12 weeks so everyone can make/finalize travel plans. We also set our rsvp deadline as august 10th I believe.

Still keep that RSVP date. We actually asked for an earlier than usual response deadline (month and half before wedding) and sent out our invitations about 3 months before the wedding. USPS was slow at the time and with our vaccine requirement, we wanted to give people time. We didn’t have guests forget about our wedding, and when politely reminded, we got the responses that had been missing after the deadline.

Hi how are you? It depends on the venue and how they operate their business. My venue needs my invitations 3 mos ahead of time because I'm offering a split meal. Plus I'm ordering acrylic name place cards to be placed on everyone's dinner plates and that will take time to order and have them arrive accordingly.
So my wedding is on October 7 2023. My venue needs a head count and meal selections by July 7. So I will send my wedding invitation out Mid April with a RSVP by June 15. And those late folks hopefully will RSVP by July 1st. Hope this helps
