When to send out invitations

Richaelyn, on May 15, 2021 at 6:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I know the normal time is 4-6 weeks before the wedding, however I did not send out Save the Dates and my wedding is in July on a Friday evening. I’m thinking maybe I should send them out earlier due to people probably planning summer trips in July and having work or other Friday events.

Normal time is about 8 weeks before the wedding. You’ll typically want to have all of your RSVPs back about 4 weeks before your date (but check with your caterer/other vendors for exact timing). For a 7/23 wedding, i think you are good to go to send them out anytime now!

I agree, I think now will be a good time. My venue/caterer wants the final guest count 2 weeks before the big day.

6-8 weeks before is standard. Replies are often due back at 3-4 weeks.

You can call or email people to let them know ahead of time. That is the traditional route, not the postcards. Do not send them prior to 8 weeks or they be lost and forgotten.

I'm actually curious about this too. We rescheduled the reception and had a minimony (thanks Covid) on my original date. We send out Re-Save the dates sometime around then. Figured ok, everyone is used to STD's ... nothing odd just a new date. Had a relative reply "oh you have a new date" when I saw them this weekend. I think you have the right idea, I may send mine out about 8 - 10 weeks before (lots of travelers).
