When to send save the dates and invites

I would say save the dates should be sent out maybe 6 months or so and then invites should be sent out between 3-4 months.

Usuallly you send STD’s about 4-6 months ahead unless it’s a DW then send them out 8-12 months ahead. Formal invites go out about 8-12 weeks ahead depending upon how early you need to give your final count to your venue.

Our save the dates went out 10 months ahead, invites 3 months ahead.

You're getting married the day after us! And the 20th is also my birthday. All of my family is coming from out of state so we will probably send our save the dates out around 6-8 months ahead of time. Usually it is anywhere between 3-6 depending on where the wedding is and where the couples family's are located. The invitation is usually 8-12 weeks out. Again ours will be going out as early as possible.

Send on the STD 6 MONTHS adhead

Your wedding is two days after mine!! We are ordering our STDs in April or as soon as we get our engagement photos back, so they will be sent out in April or May. Ours is technically a destination wedding and my family loves to plan things way in advance so earlier is better for us, but you can wait til you are closer to 6 or 8 months out if you want.

We sent out our save the dates 6 months in advance and then the invite 3 months in advance. Make sure that you give a good amount of time for reply in relation to what the venue's head count cut off date is.
