When to send wedding invitations?

Lindsey, on June 15, 2022 at 1:36 PM Posted in Planning 3 15
Good afternoon from NC!
Reaching out to see if 100 days until our wedding is too soon to send wedding invites. All of my research says send it out 3-4 months in advance; plus the RSVP date is set for July 30th. Looking forward to the feedback and your help!! Thanks Smiley heart

3–4 months is a bit early. Usually 6–8 weeks is recommended around here.

6-8 weeks before the wedding is standard. If you send them earlier, guests will lose and forget the information. If you send them after 6 weeks, guests will think you are only wanting them to fill seats. Rsvps are typically due at 4 weeks before the wedding with a week buffer to track down anyone who did not reply before you give the final headcount to the caterer and start your escort cards.

Do you think if I send them out by June 30th or July 1st would give people time to RSVP with the set date of July30th?

Do you think July1st would be too early? Our wedding is in September (also my RSVP date, although early, is set in stone, I’m ready to be done with planning And our vendors need numbers before September)

July 30th is too soon for guests to RSVP. Most people don’t know if they can get off work until about a month before. My wedding is the day before yours. We will be sending invites end of July. RSVP is set for Sept. 2nd.

For your date, I recommend an RSVP date of August 30 not July 30. So maybe send them our around August 1. Don't stress, you still have some time!

I’ve been planning this wedding for over a year by myself (husband is in school full time and work full time) & ready to be done. Also it’s already been printed on our invitations unfortunately. Thanks you all for your help though! I’m going to send them out on the 30th

Have your invitations been printed already? If not, I'd change the RSVP date because I think a July 30th RSVP date is too early for a September 24th wedding. In my opinion, I think you're fine to send the invitations out around July 1, but I'd definitely push back your RSVP date by at least a couple of weeks.

Yes! 3-4 month is a good role of thumb for sure. Although I sent mine 2-months prior I sent STDs 6 month and a pre attendance survey 9 months prior. Our wedding was on a holiday weekend and guest flew out of town and country so I had to be sure.

Whatever your wedding date is, count back 8 weeks from that. If you are marrying on September 3, you send invites the week of July 1 with rsvps due the week of August 1. No one can predict or confirm any earlier than that what their availability is.

Our wedding is September 2nd, I'm planning on mailing our invites July 1st, we have another wedding in the family that's exactly at the 8 week mark when I SHOULD mail the invites out and I don't want my guests to get home from a destination wedding and be "annoyed" or "bombarded" by another invitation.

I have our RSVP as August 2nd, while our vendor doesn't need final numbers till August 29th, I also want to be done planning and just getting the seating chart over and done with since it's the last thing on my list. Our hotel block also has to be booked by August 2nd to get our discount code so I figured having the dates the same would be less confusing.

Send the invitations 6-8 weeks before the date of your wedding. Too early, and it looks like you're B-listing, and also people will forget to RSVP.
