When to share wedding website

Holly, on May 26, 2016 at 8:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I can't decide if I want to put my wedding website address on my save the date cards, or just put the address on my formal invites.

I keep thinking that if I share it on my save the date cards, then what is the point of an invitation when they would have already read every detail on the website (ceremony and reception details, RSVP option, etc)! Yet again, they should know about hotel info and what not way before the invites go out - any thoughts out there? I feel like I am over thinking this haha

You are overthinking it lol. Not everyone will go to the website, so go ahead and put it on the save the dates.

We put ours on a business card insert and included it with our save the dates. Then it was on the back of our invitations.

I shared my website through social media. I know that isn't everyone's cup of tea but it worked in my case! I will also add it to my formal invitations.

We are sharing the website address on our STDs. We want the 90% of our guests who would need to travel to be pointed right to all of our hotel block info and other travel tips.

I don't think giving guests access to the website 6-8 months out when they get their STD negates the need for invitations. No one in their right mind will try to RSVP that early, and an invitation 2 months before your date will remind them to RSVP. If you're having a plated meal, you probably won't have your menu selected 8 months out and your RSVP function wouldn't even be set up on your website.

I've put ours on a tweet/instagram a week ago (I'm so exited). We're usign a theme called kate+jake from themeforest. There's much better options than here http://themeforest.net/item/kate-jake-lovely-wordpress-wedding-theme/13857900 Me too, I feel like I am over thinking EVERYTHING right now, can't wait anymore.

I'm putting mine on the STD but that's because I'm going a destination wedding and it has all the booking info. Most people I know did it with the formal invites tho.

Unless every one of your friends on social media is invited to your wedding, then putting your wedding website on your social networking pages is terribly inappropriate. Ew.

I sure wish someone had read every little detail on my website. I still have people asking what the date is.

I shared mine on FB, but I made a wedding list ('list' is different from a FB 'group') of only friends who are invited, and limited the post so only that list could see it. I plan on also using the list method to inform folks a week after invites go out that they should have gotten one. I'm afraid of invites getting lost in the mail.

We put ours on our STDs but hardly anyone even looked at it. We also included it on an insert with our wedding invitation to remind people where to find hotel info. People still asked us where to stay hah...

I plan to do it on the STD send out and doing them via email anyways. It's easier for them to click on it too instead of typing it in. I will also include it on the actual invite when it gets sent out as another reminder as that is a way to RSVP.

We put ours on the save the date and I am pretty sure no one looked at it haha. But if they want to look up hotel info, they can easily find it from the website on the save the date. That was my theory

Definitely on the save the dates Smiley smile

Just don't do what I did--when someone asked to see the website I thought they were curious. Instead they assumed they were invited and that made for a bit of awkward.

We didn't even end up using ours. There wasn't room on our STD and we didn't put it in our invites.
