When to start and buy wedding decor

I will be buying my decorations within the next couple months. Anything that my animals (between livestock and pets we have over 20 animals) can possibly destroy, such as favor boxes or place cards or table confetti, will be stored at my dads house in his safe. My grandmother offered to store my silk rose petals which I don't mind because I will be having around 16,000 of them if a few get damaged in her basement there will be more.
