When to start planning

I think it depends on how long you would like your engagement to be. If you want a relatively short engagement, I would start planning right away. But, if you want a longer engagement, you can wait. Most people say to give yourself at least a year to plan, as many venues and vendors book out a year in advance.

I would say at least a year, if you haven't made any plans yet. The key is sorting out your budget and then a venue that you like first, then arrange other things as they come up. Good luck!

We waited around a couple weeks (probably closer to a month) before we really started planning anything/touring venues/meeting with potential vendors/etc. This is different for everyone though - it depends on the wedding date you choose and how close it is to your engagement date. Definitely take some time to enjoy the engagement before jumping into planning, even if it's just a couple days or a week! And once you're ready to start planning, first have a conversation about budget, total number of guests you'd like to invite, and general vision for the wedding. Once you're both on the same page, let the planning begin!
