When to Start Wedding Website?

Kyra, on May 29, 2015 at 10:27 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

This is a simple question ladies. Just curious because I see all of these wedding website discussions.

When did you start creating yours?

When did you launch (announce it to the public)?

What happens to it after the wedding is over?

ETA: I am 11 months out.

I'd start working on it and then it is ready for when you send your Save the Dates, just include the web address on there.

I will leave mine up after the wedding so that I can post our wedding photos for guests to view.

I made mine about 10 months out since I built the website myself and used a custom domain. Didn't really announce it or anything - just put it on the save the dates when they went out 6 months out. It's also on the response card and reception card when I send invites out the end of next month.

Within a few weeks of picking a venue and date we slowly started working on it. The WW websites let you hide or display certain pages, which is nice. Right now ours has ceremony and reception location, about us, accommodations, and photos. We will add the wedding party page and the registry page before STDs go out in July/August. I e sent the website link to my bridesmaids and a few out of town guests who are starting to think about travel and wanted to know the rates.

I put a note on mine that the website was a "work in progress" and to check back for updates - so that I could get the basics on it for the save the dates to go out. Now that I'm almost ready to send out invites, I've been updating with the accommodations and shuttle info, etc.

I'm working on it but it won't be ready until I send out my STDs.

I started working on mine immediately. I wanted it done by the time I send save the dates out. I'm going to review it once more before invites go out, I might add an additional note about parking, but that's it I think.

I started creating mine as soon as I got back to work after my Christmas proposal (bored at work). Its still not finished. Depending on how much you want I would start now.

I still haven't released it to the public, you can google us and it comes up, but as of now only about 4 ppl have seen it (me, FH, MOH, and another bride to be)

After the wedding most couples I know keep them up, it still have good information about your registry because you may still get gifts for a while after the wedding. They say up to the one year anniversary is fine.
