When to wear your "bride" shirt

Future Mrs. Danger, on May 9, 2019 at 7:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24
Hello everyone. Was wondering what everyones thoughts were on wearing a "bride" shirt on casual friday. Is it ok to do that, 6 months prior to your wedding, or are you only allowed to wear it the morning of your wedding?

Do you mean wearing it to work? I feel like unless you are inviting everyone at your office, I would not draw extra attention to the fact that you are getting married. My coworkers know I am getting married (obviously because I wear my engagement ring and they know when I am taking off work for the wedding/honeymoon) but I never talk about wedding details unless they specifically ask.

You're "allowed" to wear it whenever you want. But if you mean, when can you wear it so you won't draw too much attention to yourself or get some eye rolls, probably save it for pre-wedding events that are specifically for your wedding such as your shower or bachelorette party.

I honestly dont feel obligated to invite the entire office, nor do I think people expect an invitation. So far no one has directly asked if they would be invited. I just diy-ed the cutest bride shirt and feel like wearing it, but didnt know if it should rather read "bride to be" since its not my wedding day, yet.

I had the same question we got shirts made for the engagement shoot and it’s has Mrs on it and 2019 with our hashtag on the back. Wondered if it was okay to wear to work. Started a new job and everyone knows I’m getting married so I don’t see any harm but that’s just my opinion 🤷🏾‍♀️

I guess you would know if graphic tshirts are allowed to be worn at your work. At my work, we are not allowed to wear shirts with lettering or pictures on them, i.e. graphic tshirts. You can wear what you want for sure. I think it would be odd to wear it to work lol.

I plan on wearing mine the day before the wedding when I go to get my nails done and last minute errands. I feel like it has not hit me yet so to me wearing it now will not feel as special.

I was going to wear mine for the morning of the wedding. Maybe even for rehearsal dinner.

I was planning on wearing mine for the bachelorette and maybe even at the morning after brunch.

I would say go for it. You're a bride until after your wedding ceremony and then you're a wifey

I generally think it is a little show-boaty to wear them outside of wedding specific events. I work in an office where everyone knows I am getting married in the next few months and they would roll their eyes if I wore it. Now, you know your office. For me, 6 months out is also a bit long. Maybe a week before would be fine, but I just think it would be weird if a co-worker showed up in one.

We have bride and groom shirts but we wear them at home for fun. I do have a handbag that says “Bride”, which I carry to work everyday. It has my work necessities in it. My friends at work love it. Everyone else pays no more attention to it than any other bag. Perhaps a bag is less “showy” than a shirt.

I wouldn't wear it to work because I just don't want the attention or questions.
I have 2 bride shirts that I have yet to wear. I just haven't found the right time. I'm definitely wearing one the first day of our honeymoon and maybe I'll wear another the day before the wedding.
I think it's just a matter of preference on when you decide to wear yours.

I guess you can wear it whenever you want but I’d feel weird about wearing mine (or seeing someone wear theirs) at any non-wedding related function. It just doesn’t seem necessary. I’ve worn mine to a couple bridal shows, and plan on wedding it for my bachelorette party and getting ready the day of the wedding but that’s about it. I’d feel so weird wearing it to work or even just out and about.

I have a shirt that says "engaged AF" that I wore to my first hair and makeup trial, a catering tasting, my bachelorette party, and a venue tour. I have a "sweating for my wedding shirt" I wear a lot when I work out!
