When you are a desperate bride marked as spam here...

Eileen, on August 5, 2019 at 10:35 AM Posted in Account Support 0 16
If you are a bride and you are in a time pinch and you need to secure all you major vendors asap and you make the mistake???!!!!??? I made to contact several vendors hoping to get enough quotes to make a decision quickly and secure my date... well you will be flagged as SPAM. Not only that, whatever requests you send will be removed and EVERY vendor you contact will think you are spam. I have received a few emails from vendors who I went into contact BEFORE weddingwire marked me as spam and thats how I found out. I contacted customer service for weddingwire thru their chat feature and guess what? They wont remove or fix their obvious mistake and the suggestion from Kelly, senior customer service associate was:
1. Use our other features then!!! You still can use the other tools ???? (Said by Kelly.. and I quoted) Ummmm why would I want to shop here when I want to hire vendors reviewed by other couples and local to me?? Im 8 months away from my wedding. I need EVERYTHING DONE. I NEED TO BOOK MY DATE!
2. Well you are not taking my advice (said by Kelly..) so just open a new account with another email and thats it!
So let me get this straight.... i got to open a new email account (yes I only have one) AND I got to open a new weddingwire account that will provide vendors that I ultimately contact my exact name as the prior one and wedding date and my requests they already know as SPAM (after signing up weddingwire again and do all that, like i got time for all this trouble as im stressed enough already) Really???
Bottomline is weddingwire thinks im going to do all of that when there’s other well known sites like “The Knot” that do what they do.
I requested Kelly to place me in contact with her supervisor. She did not comply.
Brides. If you are not aware of this “glitch” you will go thru customer service hell like I just did and your wedding planning will be made far more stressful than it already is.

I have to say I am really surprised because I planned my entire wedding in 10 weeks using all vendors from WeddingWire and I contacted most of them within a day and never had any problems. I’m sorry you had to go through all of this because this really is an amazing site and you can get lots of great feedback from people on here. Good luck

So I used weddingwire to look for vendors. I didnt actually contact them through this site. I looked at reviews and then contacted the vendors off their own websites. They all had email/phone contacts and I never had any issues. Have you tried contacting your vendors that way, outside of weddingwire? I set up a specific email just for our wedding. It's a gmail account, and I have ALL of our contacts with all of our vendors there. It made life a lot easier!!

You were VERY lucky. I just went to BBB for Weddingwire and the reviews are AWFUL , from vendors to users. Wish I had known. What an enormous waste of time.

I also used Wedding Wire to plan my entire wedding and had ZERO issues. In fact, it made things so much easier. Sorry you had such a problem, but I don't see what the point of this post was, honestly. Most of us here are here because we find the community, tools and staff incredibly helpful. If we didn't, we would have just left. Hope it all works out for you in the end,

Yes, I suppose I can. That does not fix the time Ive invested here and wasted. Plus, now that after going to BBB for Weddingwire and seeing all the AWFUL reviews I learned their vendor review system is fraudulent. So even looking at vendors here (as I was doing) that have 5 stars and contacting them separately or independently does me no good. The feature that interested me was that it was a platform in which couples reviewed my local vendors based on their experience and seemed legit. Being ill and unable to drive right now makes it difficult to meet them in person so I depended on those reviews. I guess Ill take whatever vendor name seems professional and legit and cross reference with Yelp or BBB. So much more work and stress when Im doing this all by myself!

Well I guess for you.. well pointless you already did yours. For others: to be careful when planning and contacting vendors because if you contact a bunch you will be flagged. You know. The right thing? Help each other? If i go thru this, dont want others to do as well. Or is also wrong to vent? This is a forum and planning a wedding is very stressful. Thanks for the support!

Eileen, the community here is trying to support you, but the point is most of us have not HAD this issue - I contacted a TON of vendors all at once, as has my best friend who is currently planning her own wedding. She has also not had this issue. Those of us who "already did ours" come back here to lend our ears and advice. This thread just seems like you're here to trash talk, which - if you are in a time crunch - is not a constructive use of time. We are happy to help, guide and give feedback and advice, but coming in here so defensive isn't allowing us to. Sending love and luck your way! Honestly!

Good ! I see your supportive comments coming straight thru. Not having the experience I had does not give you the right to say Im trash talking when I am simply expressing my experience (which I have the right to) and to caution others not as lucky as you or your friends. If anyone here is fiercely defensive over my right of expressing my opinion is you.
Nice to talk to another Weddingwire employee.
Like them you are not helping.

I honestly don't understand why all the hostility. I'm not an employee. I never have tried to be.

Best of luck to you and yours, and I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for here.

I've never had good customer service on here. I honestly just check reviews and email vendors from my personal email rather than through wedding wire. You could likely do that to bypass your problem.

I'm sorry that happened, but at least you can still contact vendors through their emails. I looked at a lot of vendors on here but always contacted them directly through their email unless I couldn't find it somewhere (some vendors also said they didn't always get WW notifications so it's better to contact them directly).

I'm sorry you had the issue. However, I strongly suggest you get another email address for wedding planning anyway. When you contact vendors, you often end up inundated with emails. It's that much worse if you go to a bridal show - I was still receiving emails from some vendors 6 months *after* my wedding.

Contact vendors through their individual information. You should still be able to look at reviews, then go to their sites and find contact info.

I get that you're stressed - I planned my wedding in 6 months and 1 day, and there's a lot involved, but it is doable. Narrow down your venue first. Depending on location and budget, you may discover that your preferred date is already booked. All of these ladies are just trying to help you, and your responses are coming across as defensive and hostile. You did not post this as a "vent," and most of us do have a good experience here. That's why we're here instead of one of the other options.
