When you give final head count do you give the exact number or a couple extra?

Meridith, on March 13, 2017 at 11:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I'm worried that some of FH's family that RSVP'd No will show up at the wedding. Or that some of his family who we were told were not allowed to bring 10 extra people, will actually bring some of them. Should I just give the final RSVP count that we actually got and say screw it you told me no. Or should I have a couple extra meals ready just in case they do show up?

I say a couple more! I have included the phrase "we have reserved __ seat (s)in your honor" at the bottom of my rsvp card to avoid randoms showing up. I hope yours works out!

I would check with your caterer. Most will include a few extra portions just in case.

That's a great idea about the rsvp card. I'd say a couple more. I'm sure someone will show up to mine that I wasn't accounting for

I would ask the caterer especially if they are experienced with weddings. I am assuming they make more for that reason. Don't forget to count yourself in the head count and whatever vendor teams you are feeding

Agree with StPaulGirl. Also, don't forget yourself, FH n day-of vendors in the count.

Thanks ladies, I'll definently check with the venue (they are doing the catering), I should have put that reserved seats line on the RSVP but forgot and I think in their culture it's not that strange to say you're bringing other people so his family is struggling to get that we are doing it differently.

@NatHam11 Thanks! I'll make sure I don't leave any of them out
