Where are you displaying your cake table?

Blaine, on December 7, 2014 at 10:57 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

Are you planning to have your cake table in front of the head/sweetheart table? If so, is your cake going to be displayed all night? I'm not sure if I can trust having a $400 cake on display for a few hours before we cut it... what if someone knocks it over? Will the icing start to melt?

Where will you have your cake table? And will it be out all night?

Nope. It would be in the way. We're cutting it right after the first dance so it can be taken away and served right after dinner during the parent dance.

Our cake table will be up front near us. It won't be on display for more than an hour.

Our dessert table is really elaborate and pretty so we'll have it out the entire night. It's against a wall so i don't see it being knocked over. Icing shouldn't melt, unless it's too hot in your reception venue.

We had a King's table and it was at the end of that table, in the middle of the room, on display until we cut it before dessert. I wanted it to be seen and not hidden away in some corner. No one knocked it over and it didn't melt. It was taken away after we cut it and served as part of the dessert tables. Worked well.

This is actually one of the things I have been thinking about endlessly, and I just don't know yet. We have an area that goes off to the side where I thought about setting it up, but it's outside and uncovered (what if a bird pooped on it-seriously!). I'm going to ask my caterer where she thinks we should put it. The baker is familiar with they layout and says she is normally asked to set it up in the one area which I think is the worst place!

Here is the little area off to the side I was thinking about. I also thought about putting the table with our guest book down there...we actually have a huge letter for people to sign with Sharpies.

The cake will not be displayed in front of us but it will be either on the side of us or behind us. It will be on display until the middle of dinner and served before the dancing starts.

We had our cake table off to the side of the dance floor. We cut the cake at a little after 7:30.

Our cake table will be on the side of us. My sweetheart table is on an elevated stage so it won't really be in the way at all. We will cut the cake after dinner and the garter/bouquet toss but before dancing begins.

Mine is kind of the same as Emily's: End of the King's Table, but it's in the beginning of the room instead of the middle. We'll be cutting it and having it served about an hour and a half after the reception starts, right after dinner, so it won't be on display too long.

In my area cakes aren't displaced in front of the head or sweetheart table. Our cake table was off to the side and it was on display for about 2 hours. I probably should have been worried since it cost us $350 but it really was the least of my worries!

Ours will be displayed the first hour or so of our reception, then cut and served immediately following dinner. I'm hoping to have it near our sweetheart table. June Bride that's a gorgecous cake table!

We had it sitting up on the stage behind our sweetheart table.
