Where are you honeymooning and how much are you spending?

Sarah, on August 8, 2019 at 6:34 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 34
Ideally I'd love to tour Europe for our honeymoon but our budget is $3k. We've talked about a less extravagant European vacation, or maybe something in Central or South America.
What are y'all doing?

We are going over budget with our honeymoon mostly because we didn’t realize how much more expensive it is to travel during spring break and Easter. We booked a 7 night cruise for $2100 but still need flights and excursions. We’ll prob come in around $4k.

Rio for one week! Flights were $1600, airbnb for the week was $500, we're chartering a sail boat for one day $300, so total $2400. With food and stuff, I think it'll come to $3400.

We are spending 6 days in a really nice resort on Sanibel Island in Florida! Including flights, the best room we could get, a rental car and an excessive spending fund (lol rather too much than not enough!) it cost us about $3000-$3500. Leaving the country was just going to be too much for us right now.

We had a DW in Vegas so we sort of considered the before and after days a mini honeymoon type thing. We wanted to fly back this year to have a honeymoon but we ended up having to replace the HVAC system in the house and fix my AC in my car so finances are super tight this year. We opted to just drive to KY to do the Bourbon Trail for Memorial Weekend. It was beautiful and relaxing. We stayed at a B&B the one night and it was so sweet. We even rented a mustang convertible for the drive and it was awesome! It was short and close to home but we still consider it our honeymoon lol. We spent less than $1,000 all in with all the tours and the private dinner at Maker's Mark and car and hotels.

We are going to an all inclusive resort in Jamaica. We are spending around 4k after flights, resort fees and all that jazz for 7 nights. We opted to get a ocean front suite cause it's our honeymoon and it was something I really wanted.

I did Europe once with an ex bf altogether for $3k but we were college kids so most of the things we did were freebies like sight seeing and museums. But it is definitely doable.i went to Japan and Hong Kong and together we spent around $5.5k but that was for about 2.5 weeks

We're going to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos for 8 days/7 nights! We're only spending around $1,000-$1,500. I have a lot of credit card reward miles so I got our flights for a total of $75 (they would've been $688). We're staying at an oceanfront condo that we found on HomeAway for only $1,200, but my FIL's are paying for the condo since my parents are paying for most of the wedding. The only things we'll have to pay for besides the flights are food & excursions!

Only $700 but that’s because it’s within driving distance! We wanted to go to Disneyland because it’ll be dressed up like Nightmare Before Christmas but we just couldn’t swing the cost this year, we’re already saving for next year!
We didn’t want to postpone our honeymoon because hot damn we both need a break!!! Even a small one and I’m so looking forward to going on roller coasters, eating giant turkey legs and snoozing by the pool.

Hi - we are doing a 5 night stay in Jamaica. We are staying at the sandals all inclusive resort in Ochi Rios. We spent around 3k for that but we still have to get flights so we will maybe hit close to 4k total.

We spent 10 days, 9 nights at a high-end all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. With the upgraded room, we spent $5000 on everything.

Europe is def. doable for 3k and you can still have nice living arrangements. Your wedding is around the perfect time to go also! When flights are cheaper and tourism isn't crazy (big reason we picked our wedding for early Oct, all for our honeymoon lol). We went to Amsterdam, Berlin, and Prague last Oct for less than 3k. Just have to be travel smart. With that said, for our honeymoon we are taking a little over 2 weeks to go to Japan, Bangkok, and Bali. I love a challenge so I am going to try to get the best all for less than 3.5k. We got a travel card last year and have been putting everything on it for points (nice that they give you 60,000 to start with). Fingers crossed and good luck to you!

We are doing 3 days in Montreal. Unfortunately I don't get a ton of PTO time so I can only take 2 days off. My parents are paying for our hotel as a wedding gift so we will probably only spend $300 on gas and food. It's a 3.5 hour drive so it definitely saves us money.

We were going to be going to Hawaii, but due to budget and wanting to spend 2 weeks there, we will now be going back to our original plan... Costa Rica! We will be going from Dec 30, 2019 - Jan 10, 2020

Our budget is to ideally spend up to/less than $6k. So far our lodging is about $2,800 and flights are $1,200. Hopefully with excursions and food we can stay under budget, but if we go just a tad bit over I would be ok with that (:

For our honeymoon we went to an island in Mexico call Isla Holbox. The hotel was $2700 for a week but we picked one of the top suites in one of the best resort in the island but they have for all prices. Flight was $695 for both but we had our wedding in Mexico so it wasn’t just for the honeymoon. Transportation from Playa del Carmen to island was about $250 for taxi, ferry and taxi in the island round about trip. Food and tours was another $1000 to $1500 which includes a romantic dinner for two by the beach. As for the place is was beautiful, peaceful and delicious food!

We are going to Lisbon, Portugal and Tenerife, Spain for two weeks total. We got really lucky with our costs though and so far have only spent $1500 on lodging and plane tickets combined. We found a great deal on flights for $575 a person, and lodging for the two weeks came out to about $500 total. $200 of the lodging is for the AirBnB in Lisbon, and the $300 is for our resort in Tenerife. FH parent's let us take one of their timeshare weeks to stay for "free" (had to pay for transfer of week which was $100 and then travel insurance). Europe for 3k is doable depending on where you go and what kind of places you are staying. I'm definitely grateful for FH parents because now we are able to go out and do a few nicer things we wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Good luck planning!

We are going to Cancun. Flight & Hotel for 5 nights cost us around $2,400. We booked through a travel agency so there were a couple extra costs.

We did a RC cruise! 8 days/7 nights and 1 day in Puerto Rico prior to the cruise. Our flights were "free" from using our credit card points. We spent around $1,500 on the cruise itself, and another $1,500 on everything else which included the following: Hotel/food/drinks in PR, flip flops because I forgot to pack some, food/taxi to the beach in St. Maarten, Shirts/food/drinks/taxi to the beach/pictures with a monkey in St. Kitts, beach chairs/beach umbrellas/food/drinks/taxi to the beach/wave runners in Antiqua, Catamaran cruise through the pitons (booked through the cruise ship)/a small turtle trinket/shot glass in St. Lucia, sea turtle snorkeling (booked through the cruise ship) in Barbados, the occasional drinks on board the ship with dinner/nighttime people watching/day at sea sitting by the pool, food at the airport, and checked luggage. All in all, it cost us about $3,000 not including flights (I don't remember the "real" cost of these, but I think they were around $600?)

I'm from the west coast so tickets to Europe alone would be easily well over $1,000 per person. So Europe was out for us. We are going to Barbados and staying at sandals. I'm sooooo extremely excited. We splurged and went for a room with butler service. Both our families travel quite a bit so we wanted to go somewhere different and make this really special. At the end of the day with our airfare and the all inclusive stay we are probably spending right around $6,000 but that also means that once we arrive there should be ZERO additional expenses as even snorkeling, water sports, meals at any of their 11 restaurants, and all alcohol are included at sandals. We should be able to kick back and truly just enjoy without any stress or financial decision making while we are there.
