Hey guys, I’m getting married on 7/13/24 and I need help find a place where my guest can go during cocktail hour. My venue only has 2 large rooms 1 for ceremony and reception, while the other is a bridal suite. The flip will take 1 hour but where can I host the cocktail hour. I’m having a small micro wedding of 50 guest. I need help 😩🥹

It takes an hour to flip for 50 people?? That seems like a lot. Is there an outdoor space available, like a patio or garden?

Can the bridal room accommodate the guests? Or if there is the outdoor space, can you have a bartender there and maybe canopies and chairs?

No the bridal suite is a little too small for 50-60 guest, but i think ima try and make the back of the building a little chill spot and put the cocktail tables outside. Here’s some pics so you can get a better view

Has the venue not had this issue before? Every venue that we looked that had to do a room flop had a separate area for guests to hangout at during the room flip.

They just opened a month ago, and she’s only had birthday parties and celebrations of life.

If she doesn't have a designated space for cocktail hour then it doesn't really sound like a space that can accommodate weddings.

It sounds like she might want to consider adding onto her property to accommodate cocktail hours if she plans to try to advertise her venue as a "wedding venue". As it stands now, it is definitely set up more for more casual events (like birthday parties), or just small ceremonies where the receptions are held elsewhere. Which could be a good option for you, especially since your event will be small. You could do the ceremony at this venue, then host a dinner in a private room at a nearby restaurant. Then guests could enjoy a happy hour while you take photos, and then you could join them for dinner.

Another option would be to host the cocktail hour at a nearby bar or restaurant. If there's something within a couple blocks of the venue, you could set up a tab with the bar or restaurant and arrange for hors d'oeuvres/apps/small bites. Guests could walk there for cocktail hour then return to the venue for dinner once the room is flipped.

Hi! Is there anywhere outdoors? I too will have to pause for a room flip. So we are utilizing the courtyard entry to the venue. I bought Christmas lights and rented heaters, cocktail tables etc. (wedding in 3 weeks). I can send you pictures after for inspo if you’d like. Don’t be discouraged! It will work out 🤍

You can’t host outdoors if there is no plan B for bad weather or it’s prohibitively expensive to make the area suitable for rain, storms or excessive heat. In that case you may just have to accept that the venue is not conducive to having a cocktail hour at all. The venue may not be interested in trying to be all things to all people.
