Where did you get your ring?

I'm starting the hunt for a ring. I've looked at Zales, Gordons, Kays and even Walmart because I don't think millions of dollars should be spent on a ring. I found one on Amazon that I like, but what would people say?

We got ours at JCP. Mine is a 1 karat channel band and i paid less than half that the chain stores charged and has a warranty.

I got mine at Shane Co.

Had some awesome rings for less than I expected.

Really just depends what you want.

My engagement ring is from Kay Jewelers.. hubby had the center stone that he bought when he was deployed, then they worked with him to design the rest. But for our wedding bands we bought ours off of Ebay and i get TONS of compliments.

I got my ring from JcPenny. I think it is funny because people are shocked that we didn't get it at some big jewelry store. I was the same as you, I didn't need a ring that was super expensive, just something I liked, and I wanted the lifetime warranty since I work a lot of freight and it gets banged around at work.

BlueNile.com for 'her' ring. You can't beat them. Kay, Helzberg, Tiffany's, Zales, fuhgedaboutit. For your dollar, you will get much more than any of the other places. Her rings are in pic. GIA certified, etc. You absolutely can't go wrong with them. Her e-ring at Tiffanys etc would be $28K. You will pay MUCH less than that at Blue Nile. The photo attached is a 2ct $100,000 ring from Tiffanys. Just for fun and comparison.

I say wherever you purchase is fine, just do your homework on whatever stone/metal you want to buy, read BBB and yelp/citysearch/etc reviews on the shop, and make sure what you get is appropriately certified and warranted. It's nice if the shop has onsite repairs as well, so you can get it resized/repaired/etc same or next day.

H did a year of research and visited/read reviews for nearly every store in a 30-mile radius before choosing a small independent jeweler. He got really amazing customer service there. The sales guy spent literally months with H, poring over stacks of diamonds under a microscope until he found "the one." He even agreed to call H from his personal phone instead of the store, b/c H was paranoid the store name would pop up on caller ID and I'd see it somehow. Result is that H knew exactly what he was buying, the stone is amazing heirloom quality and an awesome value - like Groomzilla said, the same ring at Tiffany would be hella more spendy.

K M which wholesale place did you say you got your diamond? To answer we got my ring from Smyth, but looking for a diamond. And still in the process looking for our bands. So it does not matter where the ring come from, just as long as you are satisfied with the quality and make sure to insure it(some ladies have lost their rings)

Littman Jewelers. We get all our jewelry from there. Their lifetime warranties have saved us several times already. Thankfully I haven't had to use it on my e-ring so far, but I did forget about my diamond journey necklace when trying to remove a turtleneck sweater until the chain went sailing across the room ... oops. And my girlfriend snapped her diamond bracelet pulling up carpet. They just laugh and fix em for us.

My e-ring was purchased from our favorite antique dealer. The band is from the 1920s (though it was never worn) and the diamond is from the late 1800s. FH got a great deal on a ring that is valued at much more than we would have spent. We also bought my wedding band from the same antiques dealer. We love our antiques dealer -- she's almost become a friend and knows every step of our wedding planning!

Amazon is fine! It would be rude for someone to ask where you got the ring in the first place - and if you don't want to tell those people it was from Amazon, name the brand or designer and leave it at that.
