    If you are literally having a guest BOOK, I've seen them at both. If you are having an alternative like love notes to the couple, then it goes at the reception.

    Ours is going at the ceremony when the guests walk in. It's on a patio so they are able to get a drink, sign the guest book and take their seat. Usually though if the ceremony and reception are at different places, it is at the reception. That way people don't have to hurry to sign it before they have to leave!

    Then the reception. It takes more time than just signing your name. You also need to set up the test paper and baby wipes. The ceremony is not a good place for that. People would be jammed up at the tree table rather than watching you get married.

    Reception near escort table. We are doing a "guest bench" everyone will sign the wooden bench with black sharpies and FH will seal it and it will be in the front of our house.

    Reception. On a little table somewhere. If your havn't coctail hour you can have someone set it up ther eand move it to the reception area later.

    You can have this at the ceremony on a table as the guests walk in. After the ceremony you can move the guest book to a table near your reception area.
