Where to find a Mandap?

Priya, on April 11, 2018 at 12:43 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
Hey guys,
I'm doing my wedding in Orlando, FL on October 19th. But I have a serious problem at hand. We are doing a traditional Hindu wedding at a temple and I have no idea where to rent an affordable Mandap for the ceremony! A Mandap is like a gazebo or a tent. I have a few images attached of what I'm talking about. But if any of you all know where I can rent an affordable one that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Priya

Have you asked the people at the temple where other couples rented their Mandap?

None of those three pics look affordable with the massive draping and huge florals.

Can you rent a plain wooden structure and decorate it more simply?

Yes, I had asked the temple and the structure they have is out of my budget and not at all nice looking. The pictures I had uploaded we're just to be used as an example for those who don't know what a Mandap is. I'm looking for something simple that I would be able to jazz up myself. A kind of diy of all else fails.

The structure looks the same as a chuppah with the four pillars. Check for those rentals too.

Do a search on Orlando Craigslist and www.searchtempest.com for someone selling a gazebo or pergola. Here's one for sale for $200- much less than the cost of a rental.

You can buy one at home depot, or make the structure yourself.

If you want draping, buy inexpensive sheer drapes at Ikea or even a thrift shop.

You can make a floral arrangement with silk flowers and re-purpose them to use at the reception. Instead of florals you could also make a huge arrangement with paper flower, fans or pinwheels.

I’m not familiar with a manadap but this looks very similar to a chuppah which is what I will be having at my wedding. Not sure what you consider too much for this but in my area chuppah rentals start at about $500 for just the plain structure. I would look into making one if that is above your budget.
