Where to find realistic looking artificial Baby's Breath/Gypsophila for cheap?

Shanice, on July 16, 2014 at 10:29 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 6

I have looked on Afloral, Save on Crafts, Amazon, and Hobby Lobby's website and I can't seem to find realistic looking baby's breath! I want to make an arrangement that looks like the picture I've attached. I'll be using them to decorate the aisle first, and then using them as centerpieces on the tables at my reception. I am a first time DIYer, so I have no clue what I'm really looking for, or how much I would need to buy to fit in 8 small galvanized bucket. If anyone has any recommendations of alternative flowers, that could be used to achieve a similar look, I'd greatly appreciate that as well! Thanks!

I was going to do this too, until I tried it out and figured out just how much it actually takes to fill the small buckets. I nixed the idea quick as it got SUPER expensive.

You're going to need a lot. By a lot, I mean, AAAAAAA LLLLLOOOOOTTT. Especially if you want the buckets to seem very full. It took 3 of the dried baby's breath bundles from Hobby Lobby to fill mine. That was like $20-$25 per bucket.

I ordered real baby's breath through Costco. I got 4 boxes, so hopefully that will be enough for me. I'm using them as centerpieces but also for bouquets for my three bridesmaids.

Thank you Mrs_M To Be!! I've been seeing the same prices, so I'm starting to think that maybe I should change my flower choice. Did you keep the same idea and change what you put in the buckets, or did you end up doing something completely different?? We're wedding twins btw!! Smiley smile

Thank you Tasia! Someone had recommended Costco to me, but I was trying to stay awake from real flowers, 1. Due to my allergies, and 2. It's waaaayyyy out of my budget. Almost a week to go til the big day!! Good luck, and congrats in advance!

Babys breath is your cheapest flower choice most likely, and you can buy it and dry it yourself. Just take it out... and let it dry Smiley smile Babys breath is super easy that way! You can get 100 stems of it through Costco for $75. I was planning on using it for my centerpeices with mason jars, and with large mason jars, 4 stems fills them up just fine! (just to give you an idea of the number of stems you will need... )

I think you could keep the flower but change the holder- maybe do mason jars or something smaller. Even with the cheapest flower- which is baby's breath- it will take a TON to fill a galvanized bucket, meaning lots of moo-lah!
