Where to get wood slabs?

h, on October 7, 2016 at 3:24 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 27

For my table centerpieces im trying to find wood slabs. At Joann Fabics it is about 12 dollars for one slab. Does anyone know where i can get wood slabs cheaper? Or someone who is willing to let me borrow?

Sawmills might have useable scraps for this. Look to see where one is nearest you.

Haha. I literally asked FH cut down a tree he always complains about so we could have some because it's so expensive to get them already preserved and everything. So it turned into a fun DIY

But you might be able to find someone selling unsplit wood, or look into a local tree service company and see if they'll sell you some for cheap!

There was a tree in our backyard we had to cut down so we ended up using that. If you look on Craigslist and search "rustic wedding" or "country wedding", you can probably find some cheaper on there than at a craft store!

Legit doing centerpieces almost identical!! I found wood slabs posted for sale on craigslist. I paid $2/slab. They are cedar, they smell great, and look great!

We haven't lacquered them yet, but we're going to. Luckily FH works for Sherwin-Williams and gets all that kind of stuff for free basically. We cut them maybe a month ago, and they still look fine.

Following. I'm using those for my centerpieces too. I believe Oriental Trading has them, but I don't know how much they're going for.

Pretty sure I saw them on clearance at Michael's. Also, are there any bridal consignment shops in your area? Given their popularity, past brides may be selling them.

You can get them from Sur la Table and other stores that sell entertainment pieces/serve ware but I'm not sure how much they are.

Hobby Lobby has them. You can use their 40% off coupon. Only down side is you have to buy them one at a time. Or get friends and family to help you. That's what my mom and I did. Of course I only needed 12.
