For my table centerpieces im trying to find wood slabs. At Joann Fabics it is about 12 dollars for one slab. Does anyone know where i can get wood slabs cheaper? Or someone who is willing to let me borrow?
Haha. I literally asked FH cut down a tree he always complains about so we could have some because it's so expensive to get them already preserved and everything. So it turned into a fun DIY
There was a tree in our backyard we had to cut down so we ended up using that. If you look on Craigslist and search "rustic wedding" or "country wedding", you can probably find some cheaper on there than at a craft store!
When you guys used yours trees to cut the wood from did u preserve the wood in any way so it didn't crack? How long before your wedding did you cut the wood?
Craigslist for sale :"wedding"! A recently discovered gem where people who recently get married try to sell off the stuff they'll never use again! you could even try :rustic wedding and see what comes up!
Legit doing centerpieces almost identical!! I found wood slabs posted for sale on craigslist. I paid $2/slab. They are cedar, they smell great, and look great!
We haven't lacquered them yet, but we're going to. Luckily FH works for Sherwin-Williams and gets all that kind of stuff for free basically. We cut them maybe a month ago, and they still look fine.
Following. I'm using those for my centerpieces too. I believe Oriental Trading has them, but I don't know how much they're going for.

Pretty sure I saw them on clearance at Michael's. Also, are there any bridal consignment shops in your area? Given their popularity, past brides may be selling them.
Hobby Lobby has them. You can use their 40% off coupon. Only down side is you have to buy them one at a time. Or get friends and family to help you. That's what my mom and I did. Of course I only needed 12.
