Where to get wood slabs?

For my table centerpieces im trying to find wood slabs. At Joann Fabics it is about 12 dollars for one slab. Does anyone know where i can get wood slabs cheaper? Or someone who is willing to let me borrow?

    I'd look at any little lumber places, etsy, or do clearance at a few different hobby stores.

    I saw some at Bed, Bath, & Beyond yesterday. Not sure of the price, just saw them in passing with the wine supplies.

    You can find them at craft stores. My dad lives in the woods, so he said he would cut them for me.
