Where to put jr. bridesmaids/bridal attendants in the processional?

Olivia, on May 6, 2022 at 10:46 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2

Hi everybody

We have 37 days until our wedding, but I am (probably unnecessarily) stressed about the logistics of the processional.

My dress has a chapel length train and I have a modified cathedral (110") length veil. Our ceremony is outdoors, down a few steps, and I have to cross a little bit of gravel to get to the grass. To help me maneuver, my younger cousin (13) and FH's little sister (also 13) will be carrying my veil/train and fluffing everything before I walk down the aisle. But then where do they go in the processional? They are acting more as bridal attendants, so do they walk a few paces behind me? Bridal attendants and pages are usually younger than 13, so should I see if a staff member at the venue can fluffy my veil and train and have the girls walk with the rest of the processional more like junior bridesmaids?

Are you having a rehearsal? I would say try it out first to see which is better. If they’re not technically standing with the bridesmaids and their only job is to carry your veil and train I’d say let them stay a few steps back. However, usually once you get to the alter your MOH can fluff everything out for you. I’d say have a rehearsal to see which works best.

We’ve only seen jr bridesmaids at a couple weddings and the bride chose to have them enter first before the adult bridesmaids. In typical American weddings, it’s rare to have anyone walk in after the bride, however it is very common in European weddings.

If they are not standing up with you as bridesmaids but are only carrying your train, then they sit in the front row with family. I don’t think we’ve ever seen anyone cliff the train as soon as the bride gets to the altar but do what works for you. Make sure you practice this at the rehearsal.
