Where to rent lazy susans?

Anonymous, on February 13, 2012 at 5:58 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

Hi,

We are having a family style chinese food reception at an american venue here in houston. for those of you from houston, you know most asian receptions take place at the kim son or ocean palace ballroom. the tables at those venues have the big lazy susans on them to accommodate the multiple entrees that come out. well, our current venue doesn't have them and we realized that will be a big issue with our guests having to reach and pass around entrees throughout the dinner. we were wondering if anyone knew of a place that rented lazy susans. we have checked with all the big party rental outfits and have not found any. help!

    Hi Kim,

We are also doing family style Chinese catering in an American venue. Who are you using as your vendor? From my initial discussion with our caterer, we would be able to get the lazy susan from them; as well as, any other equipment necessary for a traditional Chinese reception.

Since we are pretty much doing the same thing, I think it would be mutually beneficial if we bounce ideas off each other. Let me know what you think and we can discuss further via email or other channels.

Hey CJ, we are located in Houston.

Hey Tim, we are hosting our reception at Minute Maid park in Houston and Kim Son is catering. I don't know where you are at, but in Houston, any one who is anyone in the Asian community has their reception at the Kim Son ballroom, but we refused to have our reception there. We have asked if they would let us borrow or rent their lazy susans but haven't heard an answer back. I have a feeling the answer will be no. Kim Son hosts a wedding in every single one of their ballrooms every weekend and they also do dim sum and stuff in their main restaurant. I doubt they would have 30 extra lazy susans just lying around for situations like this. The great thing about your situation is you are working directly with your caterer. Unfortunately for us, the ballpark doesn't let us use outside catering. When we presented them with what we wanted for the meal, their chef felt uncomfortable cooking what we requested and decided to subcontract the catering.

    Hi all,

I am in the same situation with looking for lazy susans for my wedding in Panama City, Florida. No rental places nearby has these. I can't even get the traditional Vietnamese/Chinese food catering here since the nearby places are Atlanta, GA and Orlando, FL... and they won't travel to me because I only have 100 guests. I still want the traditional family style dinner so a local caterer that will do the best they can to make what I want. So I am just in need of some lazy susans. Any help would be appreciated!
