Where to start

Crystal, on December 14, 2019 at 9:19 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 25
Guys I am struggling! I'm not sure if it's because this is very overwhelming or because I have absolutely no idea where to start this journey! Please give me any advice for planning a wedding on your own!

Breathing helps! Lol and so does wine 😬🍷

But really.. think / have a vision
Think of a season you want to get married
    Inside? Outside? Theme?
Look around for venues in your area or around where you want the location to be within reasonable budget for you
Once you have your date/venue everything else kind of just rolls into place
Honestly PINTEREST will be your best friend during this.

No one has it all figured out, remember that! I used to do this professionally and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt overwhelmed with my own. Just decide your top 3 MUSTS that you won’t budge on, especially in your budget. That helps in making any decisions.

And ask for liquor store gift cards from Santa 😜

Congrats & welcome! Before you look for a venue, 1) set a budget, 2) estimate a guest list.

Having a theme will help! It’s way easier/cheaper to decorate a venue that already fits your theme & colors. Well done! 👏 What are you going for???

I did it all on my own for 300 people - you got this!

FIRST thing i would say is find your venue. The reason I say that is because you'll find booking anything else is going to be VERY difficult without a 100% set date and venue. Picking a date isn't really a good guarantee because you might fall in love with a venue that isn't available on your date.

So I would say once you book your venue, everything else comes much easier. The rest can be done at your own pace. For me, next was photography/DJ, dress, decor/florals, invitations.

    1. Breathe.
    2. Don’t try to have the “perfect Wedding”.3. Review the posts that I’ve created regarding Winter Weddings.4. Make notes on the things that you like the most.5. We’re here to help, so please feel free to run things by us.6. Delegate, delegate, delegate.7. Assign FH tasks and a date to have them completed by. Then, check in every 1-2 week(s) on date night to discuss it and that’s it.
Most importantly, remember that you want a nice Wedding, but a successful MARRIAGE.

Whatever can go wrong will, so do not try to plan for whatever MIGHT occur.

DH forgot his Belt and 👞👞. I had to have “Tech Support” meet me at 🎯otw back to the venue from my Make-Up appt to provide a 🎁💳and💵 to pick it up and deliver it so that I could go get dressed.
We never had the rehearsal, people that RSVP’s yes didn’t show, at least one that didn’t showed up, at least 3 UNinvited people attended, brought no 🎁, and one took a to-go plate.

I was under the impression that RSVP cards with the name of the invited parties would eliminate the uninvited guest aspect.

I made my guest list from my Seating Chart.

Using a Word Chart (9 or 10 rows down = 1 table) I placed people that had something in common together (work, church, DH’s hometown, family, etc...). As the no’s came in, I removed the names.

    No fuss, no muss.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful! Also it makes alot of sense about the date/venues! I will start to look for venues ASAP because I really like my date. I have a thing with numbers 🤣

First off would be choosing a date, then you work around that. Because then you have a timeline. After that choose a theme or colors that you like. Next up would be coming up with your budget and finding a place to get married. After that, you start looking at different vendors, but everything else pretty much falls into place.
