Which did you book first: your ceremony or reception venue?

For some of you they might be one in the same , but if you have two separate venues - which one did you book first? Your ceremony space, or your reception venue? Was one venue decision easier than the other? Or was one venue more important to you? Tell us how you made your venue choices! Photo...

We booked our reception venue first. That was the harder choice since we already knew we wanted to have the ceremony at our church.

We're really lucky and found a ceremony space that has a reception space rolled in! But we would have done the ceremony space first.Smiley shame

Reception space first, but that was mainly because my priest said that he would reserve the whole month we wanted to get married for us, and he wont book non-members until 6 months out because members get first chance at weddings there (they really dont like doing them for nonmembers to begin with, you need a connection to the church somehow to get in for a wedding - they dont want the church to be just a pretty backdrop). The reception venue is very popular and I was worried it would book up so I grabbed it first then just told Ftr when and he finalized us on the church calendar for that day

That's great, Alicia! Is your ceremony and reception in the same location or different?
