Which is more important to you: your date or your venue?

When you made those first big wedding decisions, which was more important to you? Were you set on choosing a specific date for your wedding? Or did you find the venue of your dreams first and let everything else follow? Which was more important to you? The ‘when’ or the ‘where’? Photo from Art Paper...

A little of both! I have family coming quite a distance, so I was hoping to do it on a long weekend so they had more time to travel. I wanted to do Labor Day weekend, but my venue happened to have Memorial Day weekend open, so I took it!

I definitely picked around my date! As long as it was in Hawaii, the venue wasnt the most important. I am terrible with dates so I needed to pick one easy to remember and I love October!

My venue was more important to me because of the overall theme and decorations that I want. I had a range of dates that I liked going into the tour of my venue and then based on the availability at thevenue, I narrowed it down to one day. I think this can be different from bride to bride though especially if weather, season, or time of day are important to you then the date of your wedding will probably outweigh the venue.

Both! I planned way in advance! Naturally I chose a few dates (a first option, second option) but ideally always wanted my first option and most venues had the date I wanted.

When my dream venue told me they had booked my date with another party, I negotiated with the other party for two months in order to get the venue on my preferred date!

We were limited to one date, so the date did come first. However we booked our venues within a week of getting engaged because I wanted to ensure we got the venues we wanted. Even though it was over 14 months before our wedding date.

The "where" was most important to us. We didn't have a specific date in mind but wanted a spring/summer wedding. Just for "kicks" we shot for 6/20/2020 because it sounded cool. We toured a venue and absolutely fell in love!! They didn't have that date so we chose the weekend before. We have no regrets!!

My venue was more important than the date; I asked what dates they had left next year and chose the one I thought would have the best weather Smiley smile

My venue. I wanted a venue that could accommodate my family. We are having a destination wedding. My venue sleeps 20 guest so we saw it as a way to make traveling cheaper for our immediate family

For us it was definitely the date. We are getting married on our 6th anniversary, which is St. Patrick’s Day, with an Irish theme. However, once we had the venue nailed down, things started to fall into place.

Our venue was most important... it definitely had to be something different. Once the venue was set, we scrolled through the calendar and chose 10/10/20 initially because it was fun (but then we found meaning in that date).

    Both are equally important.

For the Date: I wanted to get married in the spring time to cut down on out of season floral costs (most of the flowers we are using are spring flowers). On the flip side you have to schedule around other events in the spring (holidays, birthdays, and graduation) when choosing a date. We chose the weekend before my future brother-in-laws high school graduation. We also didn't want to wait a long time before going on our honeymoon but we wanted to go over a long weekend to avoid taking a lot of time off work.

For the venue: My Fiance and I both knew we needed a venue that connected with us but was within our price range and conveniently located. We looked at multiple venues online but only two really stood out. Once we had our first tour at the venue we selected we knew it was the right one. The warm bubbly feeling, chill bumps down your arms, and being able to envision yourself walking down the aisle and your groom standing at the end waiting for you. We still feel the same every time we go look at the venue.
