Which is more important to you: your date or your venue?

When you made those first big wedding decisions, which was more important to you? Were you set on choosing a specific date for your wedding? Or did you find the venue of your dreams first and let everything else follow? Which was more important to you? The ‘when’ or the ‘where’? Photo from Art Paper...

Neither was super important to us. the date we actually took a poll between all of our friends, but we didn't want a super big holiday involved in the month. we also kind of wanted to surprise of what the weather would be like. so it's in mother natures hands - the original plan was onesies, courthouse, and a huge honeymoon. I was convinced into the dress though

The Serene atmosphere of our venue is very important, it is for sure about the feeling of a fluid / liquid flow like the ocean most important !!

The when was. There was never a specific date, I just knew I definitely wanted either a September or October wedding. We had 3 venues we were torn between so we were just trying to find the one that had the best deal for the best day in those two months. We went with our fave venue and a mid-October date.

Both, in a way. We knew we wanted winter and we knew we wanted to be in a place that seemed "us." I feel like I've known I wanted it at our venue before we even got engaged... it was a matter of calling around to see what other options we had. We toured it, talked about winter dates and found one that didn't fall on a Packer game (hotel rates skyrocket in Green Bay!) and the venue is a brewery (we love craft beer). We didn't put too much stress on either, and made them equally important while thinking of our guests... yes it's winter in Wisconsin, but who doesn't love to dance in the middle of winter!

For us, the date was more important. We both wanted spring (maybe late April, hopefully may, or early June in MN, you just never know in this state). We eventually settled on May 2, 2020. All that said, I would do it completely different. I would pick a time of year/season or a month, then look for a venue we both love with dates available in the timeframe we chose. It was extremely difficult to find a venue with our date open. We were so fortunate that we both fell in love with our venue and that they had our date available (FYI- we didn’t tour venues that didn’t have our date available but I had over 50 “were so sorry” emails and we were a year and a half before our date).

We found the perfect venue only to find out there were no dates that were ideal for 2020 so we are currently looking for a venue that is also available in the time period we like!

Our venue! FH always wanted to get married at our venue and I absolutely loved it. We knew we wanted it on a Sunday in April but didn’t care which one

Our date was most important as it was my fiancé’s mother’s birthday. We were excited when we fell in love with a venue and they had it available 🤗

My FH and I actual booked our first venue. The date was very important to us because it is our 10 year anniversary of being BF and GF. It is the perfect date for us to tie the knot. 10.30.2020 Smiley smile

This is such a good question!

I think the venue was more important to us. We wanted to get married in the Jersey City which is where we live now. We are both from Long Island and we didn’t want to have a typical Long Island wedding like all of our other family members. We wanted our family and friends to see where we live and where our home is and the greatness about it. We love our city we live in and with the Manhattan skyline in the background is no other way we would want to get married. So I think the venue and location was more important than the date. Even when we told our family members we were getting married in Jersey City right on the Hudson River they said, “that is so you guys!”

ur original anniversary is in November so having a summer wedding in August will start a whole new celebration in beautiful weather Smiley smile

The date was most important for us! Our two favorite venus actually had them available so we are just trying o decided which we want.

I do have a question. We e are having a very whimsical themed wedding. Classy Unicorn themed (navy, blush, white, & olive colors). I am looking for someone that can do awesome sophisticated invites and save the dates!

Both were important to us! The venue we found books exactly a year to the day out. So we found our venue then picked a date not booked yet, based on our list of dates.
