Which is more important to you: your date or your venue?

When you made those first big wedding decisions, which was more important to you? Were you set on choosing a specific date for your wedding? Or did you find the venue of your dreams first and let everything else follow? Which was more important to you? The ‘when’ or the ‘where’? Photo from Art Paper...

It was the venue for me. Coming from a low income point of view it was tough trying to find a place that pretty, inexpensive, and that can fit mine and his family. I saw this place (gorgeous!) called Casa Los Ebanos but was just a little too much. Found a place call The Inn at Chachalaca Bend ( again GORGEOUS!!!) but still was too much for me considering I have to also save to move from Jersey to Texas. (And let me tell you I’m finding all these places while I’m on google map in Jersey and texting him to check these places out.) And finally I found this place called Lola’s Bistro that won me over because of how good their food looked! 😆 They fit everyone we need there and because we have more than 40 people we just had to pay to save the date and we just have to worry about cost of food at the restaurant and service tip.
Picking a date wasn’t so much of a headache. Just his mom not wanting it in March like I originally want because she said it would be too cold (in Texas? Really?🤨lol) so I started looking at dates in April and decided against it for air ticket price for my family considering that’s spring break time and ended up with Friday May 1st 2020 which MIL again asked if I was sure about became it’s a work day. I told the fiancé it’s a year in advance, if someone can’t get the day off don’t come 🤦🏻‍♀️

We picked our date based on our Photographer and Venue availability! We originally hoped for a Spring/Summer date but because we fell in love with the venue and they were already booked out for all of Spring and most of Summer, ended up deciding on a Fall date! We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!

We really wanted to do it on our anniversary date but it just was not realistic so we found an in between date. My fiancé picked it. I said late September or early October. I told him it needed to be on a Saturday since we have people coming from out of town. And we picked the 10th of October not even realizing that it was 10-10-2020. We became pretty set but considered moving in case we couldn’t find somewhere. We were lucky to find a place we loved. It was very popular. It was a who will sign for the venue first kind of thing. We are very happy and lucky to be keeping our day! Had it been less than a year and a half in advanced we would have definitely not gotten it. Many venues I was looking into were taken for that same date.

I live in a really small town and the church and reception hall were wide open as was our DJ, caterer, photographer, and the rest of the vendors. The first date we picked is what we went with.

We actually decided on our wedding date because 17 is my fiancé’s favorite and lucky number, plus we wanted a wedding date in 2020 and it happened to fall in October which is our favorite month!

At first we were looking based on availability on the date we wanted. By the time we decided on a venue the date was taken but since it was at the venue we had decided on we moved the date from 7/12/20 to 7/10/20. Not a big difference since it is still on the same weekend.

Date is 60 percent while place is 40 percent. When you add our date together you get 9. which is the date we got engaged. We got engaged 03/09/19 and we are getting married on 03/06/20. 3+6=9. Our venue is at a yacht club over looking the inter-coastal. We wanted it near water

The "where" was the most important thing to us. We went in with a rough idea of a date and, when the venue already had that date booked, we picked another one.

For us the date was non-negotiable. His birthday is 02/02, my birthday is 04/04, so we are getting married on 06/06 in 2020

We chose the date first. My Fiancé picked this date because it falls under his grandfathers birthday. He lost his grandfather at a very young age and wanted to somehow involve him on our big day. I absolutely loved the idea and it stuck to me ever since.

We chose the venue and were flexible on the date. We knew that we wanted Sept and that was all that really mattered other than the venue!

The day was more important. I have family and friends that live out of the state and I wanted to make it a weekend they were going to be around rather than them making a separate trip or not coming at all.
