Which is more important to you: your date or your venue?

When you made those first big wedding decisions, which was more important to you? Were you set on choosing a specific date for your wedding? Or did you find the venue of your dreams first and let everything else follow? Which was more important to you? The ‘when’ or the ‘where’? Photo from Art Paper...

My date was more important to me. Our dating anniversary is November 3rd, so we wanted to keep it as close as possible. But when November 3rd didn't fall on a Saturday in 2020, we had to explore other dates.
October 3rd was the closest we couple get it to. And my fiancé had no issue sharing our anniversary with the infamous "Mean Girls Day." (That's true love.)

My Winery venue was definitely in high demand but we were in no rush to get married, plus it is a destination venue, therefore we picked our venue based on their availability on Labor Day for the extended weekend in case guests travelled. Luckily for us we have a longer engagement or I don’t think we’d have gotten our venue based off our date.

We had a date in mind but weren’t super firm on it. When we found the venue we both fell in love with it, and decided it was okay to move the date one day later than our original “ideal” date

The perfect venue was more important to us. We had a time of year in mind but didn't have a specific date.

Both very important! I knew I did not want a Spring or Winter wedding, so I was open to dates from May-October. We also were set on having our wedding on a Saturday. Unfortunately, so many venues were already booked for 2020 on Saturdays during these months! But luckily, the venue we fell in love with had ONE Saturday available from May-October. We are so happy with our date and venue!

The where is more important to me. The time of year was chosen because i want my ceremony outdoors and don't want to be too hot, and the day was chosen because it was cheaper for a weekday wedding at the venue of my dreams.

For me, it was definitely the venue.
For my Fiancé, it was the date!
Fortunately we found the most perfect venue with our date open! 💜

The date was the most important because we have kids and have to make sure their schedules were clear.

We were determined on a summer Saturday and new we have family with kids that would have to travel down. So making sure that Summer school was over for everyone (east coast and south) and not having it be too close to my late August birthday were essential lol! So August 1, 2020 was non negotiable for us however we started early enough that all the venues we toured had it available 😊

We got lucky. We got engaged and had 10/10/2020 in mind because it’s such a cool date. Shortly after, we toured a brand new venue that wasn’t even open for another 2 weeks and they had our date available! I love it and our friend recently started her job there so it was perfect. The venue is blowing up now that it’s been open for a couple months so we slid in at the perfect time. I didn’t tour any other venues (I’m an impulsive person) so the date I wanted and venue I wanted were both available.

The venue and vendors were more important for me. I chose a date 15 months out so I wouldn't feel constrained by date availability.

We knew what month/season we wanted to have the wedding in, but we didn’t have an exact date. So the availability of the venue was the more determining factor in our case.

The month was more important than the specific day - we fell in love with our venue, but they only had a Friday in September left. That was good enough for us because venue and time of year were non-negotiable!
