Which of these three shrugs should i wear with my dress?

Marla, on October 31, 2019 at 5:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33
I’m 16 days away from the big day and I have to decide which shrug I should wear with my wedding dress. Or, if I should not wear one at all. I don’t have a picture of the third yet. It’s a light silver faux fur bolero made by an Etsy shop. Here are the other two. I’m just feeling self conscious a bit. What do you think? I love that the first one is very glitter like, but am still trying to get the excess glitter out of the tulle. The second one is a shimmery, but more muted and with slightly longer sleeves. There is a noticeable seam in the middle of the back of the longer sleeve one, but it doesn’t look too bad. Thanks so much.

I think you should go without one because you look gorgeous in this last photo! Wear a nice necklace with it to accent the strapless dress. A veil will look great with your dress too!

But, if you want to absolutely wear one - I'd go with the first one Smiley smile

I think you are gorgeous with out the shall. Its all about what you are comfortable with. If you prefer the shall I love how simple the second one is.

Of the two I like the second one better, but it looks beautiful without as well!

I actually like it without the shawl, you look great! But I like the second shawl better if you want to wear one.

I also like it best without the shawl, you look great! I'd be interested in seeing the Etsy shawl if you have a link. From your description it sounds like it might fit with the style of your dress the best since your dress is fancy with the lace and bling Smiley smile

You look great without one because the ones shown takes away the beauty of your dress. If you still want one, have you considered jeweled or lace capes or the different types of veils?

They say that glitter is the herpes of the craft world. It never goes away. I say go with the second one, or wear the dress without a shawl. You could add a chunky necklace and some flutter or cap sleeves if you feel too bare above the neckline.

Thank you, everyone. I am considering a mini bird cage veil, but that’s about it. I’m wearing these two along with my dress.

I like the idea of faux fur wrap but I'm not a fan of the shrugs you posted in the pictures. They don't really go with your dress and aren't very flattering. I wore a vintage stole outdoors and gave my bridal party faux fur wraps that I got on Etsy.

Well now I feel even more self-conscious about how I look..I’ve spent a lot of time and money researching and trying to find some thing that fits and goes along with the dress...Generally plus sized fur shrugs are tough to find.

Thank you, everyone. Any tips on how to smooth out back fat? I know it’s super common with strapless dresses, but I feel self-conscious. Love the dress, though. I still haven’t lost all of my baby weight, so that adds to it.

No need to feel self conscious. You look great but those two shrugs detract from your look. I'm plus sized and actually it looks like we're about the same size. I found the stole to be very forgiving as opposed to the wrap. Have you thought about a pashmina?

Thank you. Are stoles and pashminas hard to wear and keep on while holding a large bouquet? That’s my concern.

You're welcome. The stole was very easy to wear and stayed in place because it had a nice weight to it. I had a large bouquet and didn't have a problem holding it. I would think a pashmina would also be easy because you're able to wrap it around your arms and use your arms to keep it in place. It probably also depends on the weight because a heavier, thicker pashmina would most likely stay in place better.

Oh, also I forgot to mention that several sites on Etsy let you get a faux fur wrap based on your measurements. I'm not sure if you have enough time for that though but it may not hurt to look.

I got mine on Etsy but it was a one-of-a-kind vintage stole from the 50s. I got my bridesmaids' wraps on tiondesign.com. They had some plus-sized ones that may work for you and fast shipping.
