Which type of RSVP is better? Traditional or Email/Call?

Jasmine, on June 3, 2017 at 6:22 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

While looking at Invitation templates, I noticed one included two RSVP options. One was the traditional mail-your-reply, and the other said to reply by emailing or calling. Which do you prefer? I kind of like the idea of having guests email or call me instead, because nothing will get lost in the mail, I wouldn't have to deal with return envelopes and postage, and I would hear from them exactly who is attending without confusion.

Thoughts? Smiley smile

*Update*- A third option is a postcard RSVP. So guests would fill out & mail a pre-stamped postcard included in invitation suite. This would skip the return envelope hassle.

I like the response cards myself but I see people leaving towards online rsvp more and more.

We did traditional mail, and it has been one of our favorite parts of the wedding planning. People have handwritten such lovely notes on them.

We're doing online only. Less hassle for all parties involved. IMO

I'm a paper girl Smiley smile I love the traditional ones. But friends of mine have said the online option is really convenient.

I think we will do a combination. The older or more traditional guests will receive the mailed RSVP. The younger or more technically savvy will receive a link to RSVP to our website.

The last two weddings I've attended had online RSVPs. I loved it because I get so excited and want to say yes right away! I also love looking at people's wedding websites though-maybe that's the journalism major in me. We chose to do the online RSVP method mainly because my mail lady is BRUTAL, you'd be floored by the amount of do you have my mail/package posts on our neighborhood Facebook. I also wanted people to check out the webpage I spent hours on & the reduced cost of not having return envelopes & stamps didn't hurt either but wasn't a big factor. If we had a lot of elderly guests who didn't use the internet I may have reconsidered.

We are doing all three. We have a goggle voice setup for RSVP or questions, website have online RSVP and we are mailing RSVP cards. Figured we would give lots of options.

Definitely traditional because many older folks aren't tech savvy.

Thanks for the thoughts!! I want to mention again that I did list phone as an option, not just email. I'm sure everyone knows how to use a phone!! Lol. Smiley smile

I personally don't care. Honestly whatever is easiest works for me.

We have a lot of older family members that potentially would have a difficult time with online RSVPs. If your crowd is younger and more tech-savvy then go for it! We'll have an RSVP option on our website, but also include rsvp cards in the invitation suite.

I wouldn't do phone is because it would be a failure for me. I am so bad at talking on the phone, getting into a conversation, and then forgetting to do something after the call (like documenting the RSVP).
