Whiskey Barrels!

Reagan, on July 31, 2016 at 1:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20

I'm obsessed with Pinterest and all I see for the rustic weddings are whiskey barrels, so of course that's what I want at my wedding! But where do I find them!? I've looked online, and either they are outrageously overpriced or nowhere near me! Please give me ideas where I can get whiskey barrels!

    Try Craigslist or Freecycle.

I've never seen these inexpensive. Real ones are collectors pieces, and fake ones are still expensive.

    :/

Ask your florist or caterer if they have them for rental. The catering company I work for uses them as decor and builds a bar out of them.

Ask some of the fancier liquor stores near you. They sometimes have them for tastings and might sell or give them to you. Also, see if there's a cooper near you- they make barrels and sometimes have irregularities that they discount.

Agree on the good luck thing. Craft beer producers purchase these from distillers to use in the fermentation process. You won't be able to get them from a distillery because they know they cansl sell them for a lot, and they often strike deals with breweries. Finding them in antique shops is even harder, and they're marked up more.

I was wanting the same thing, but they are way over-priced. So I'm going in another direction.

Can you buy only a few and slice in half? You can make the sliced side into shelves holding other decorations.

Getting wine barrels would be easier. Getting your hands on authentic whiskey barrels is near impossible with the popularity of aging beer in barrels. Find wine barrels instead.

Here's the thing Most companies have contracts sending them to Scotland and Ireland for them to use since whisky and bourbon barrels can't be reused for whisky/bourbon.

Your better off finding wine barrels. Empty bourbon barrels are about 250 and I know of only one place who will sell them.

Some places rent these out. Try googling your city name and then "event rentals."

I would look into renting them. They are so popular right now, I'm sure rental companies have them, I know the one's near me did!

Please change your avatar to something other than the generic rings (the avatar is not the same as the background pic on the app). That helps us get to know you from other new members (but it doesn't have to be a picture of your face, if you want to remain private). The generic rings are also associated with spam/trolls, so changing it will help you get more responses. Here's how: Settings > Profile and Privacy Settings > Account Image > Change Image > Upload > Update Profile Settings. This has to be done on a computer OR can be done on your phone if you go to WW with safari.

Look for a rental company. The company we are renting antique furniture from has then.

Go to a local auction or if possible Lancaster County, PA...not sure where you are located tho! We got a huge Jack Daniels one for $80 which is a steal, however most places are pretty pricey if you don't happen to get lucky and find an antique sale.

I've been buying on Craigslist. They are usually listed $50+ but I've been able to get two people to agree to $30 and $35 if I bought all the ones they had.

Our rental company charges $30 each so it made more sense to buy and re sell.

I've bought 17 so far!!!! Lol

Some of the venues in my area provide them for you especially if it's a barn venue

Look up event decor or event rentals in your area. We have them at my old job (an event design/planning company) and rented them for $75/pop. We had custom tops made so they could also be used like tall boy cocktail tables. I think all of ours were acquired from various auctions through the years. I'm actually super excited because my old boss just emailed me asking if I wanted her to trow in a few. Um, yes please! A local distillery recently sold off a bunch and I think they were asking over $100 and they came with a bright red logo painted on them.

Best of luck with your search! Try searching the directory for ILEA (International Live Events Association) for decor companies in your area.
