White bridesmaid dresses anyone?

FutureMrs.Frazier, on November 20, 2017 at 3:01 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

Hello I have been so indecisive about my wedding colors that I decided that white or cream would be a simple and classic fix. What do you ladies thinks? Should bridesmaids wear white or ivory? My dress is ivory. I only ask because whenever I have gone to a wedding in the past I was always told to never wear white out of respect for the bride. But I think it looks elegant and the girls have more options and can wear it again later. But I am somewhat worried that I might be cheating myself out of my day by allowing the girls to wear white down the aisle along with me or does that even matter these days? I'm so confused!! please help me make since of it so I can move forward and tell them what I want!

This is definitely personal preference. I wouldn't do it, but you can and others have!

I've seen it done before, and I think it looks great. If you're wearing ivory though, don't have them wear white. Stick with the ivory. You can have them carry different colored flowers to really make the ivory pop (example attached from a quick google search.)

Going off what @Sara&L said, I have an ivory dress and decided to have the BM's wear champagne. I did think about having them wear ivory. You could have them do shades of taupe as well. Champagne doesn't necessarily need to look gold-ish, there's so many shades and every store/brand/designer is different.

I love it! Last wedding we were at the BM's wore different dresses all white, flowey, & bohemian. It was beautiful and made them stand out from the rest of the guests.

One of my best friends did this for her wedding and it looked stunning. She did have an ivory dress and her girls were in all white. It did not look bad at all, although her dress was heavily beaded so it did not look off.

Personally, not for me. But I have seen it done well. I agree with PP about having the flowers be a pop of color. I think it could be fabulous!

I think so long as they don't outshine you and their dresses are simpler than yours or that they are short white/ivory that it would look very elegant like you said.

I'm actually leaving towards this!! It was my wedding planners idea actually. I love all things unique and I think white BM dresses is a bit unexpected and I like that fun element. It also looks super elegant. I have a killer wedding dress and don't doubt people will still know that I am obviously the bride! Smiley smile

Stephanie- was your friend ever on WW? Those flowers look familiar unless it was an inspo pic.

@OG Kathryn - no she wasn't and that was an inspo pic. I know exactly what you're thinking of and I loved her BAM but I do not remember who it was!! My friend got married in 2015 and I didnt want to post a picture of her on here, but seriously the pop of color with the white looks amazing!

It's not my personal style, but I think it can look stunning! As previously said though I think ivory & ivory would be more complimentary. But I'm not sure of the motivation to wear it again as it is white/ivory.

I wore an ivory (kinda dark ivory) wedding dress, and I told my girls to find a white or light ivory lacy dress they loved. I chose white for them because we were going for light, simple, and classy vibe, and there are no colors I love enough to splatter all over. I thought white was clean and beautiful, and honestly, it's not like you're going to get mistaken for NOT being the bride! (Sidenote: my MOH actually found a super light blush dress that she LOVED, so I was more than happy to let her wear that.)

I was going to do this myself originally. I wanted a neutral color/sparkle color scheme. I was going to wear ivory and have bridesmaid in ivory as well, just in a less bridal style. I'm ending up having them in grey and myself in champagne and ivory.

But, I think all ivory or all white would be beautiful! Best wishes
