White pumpkin stenciling?

Colleen, on July 26, 2017 at 7:54 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

I went to Michael's today to see if they had white pumpkins out yet and to look for stencils. The white pumpkins will be on the head table (Mr. & Mrs.), cake table (something about cake), card table (thank you), and popcorn table (something about a treat) and I'd like to decorate them with the phrases in parenthesis. I didn't find any stencils and I'm worried if I do it letter by letter it wont look right, and I don't know anyone that could freehand it. Anyone know of someplace to get wedding sayings in stencils? Below is a picture of an example. Color opinions are welcome as well (wedding colors are navy and orange but I really like the example too).

If you can find regular quotes of the sayings you want on Pinterest, just keep practicing on some printer paper until you get comfortable writing the words. I wanted to do calligraphy pumpkins for Halloween last year and I used acrylic paint on real pumpkins and they came out great!

@Justine they did. The big one was $30 and the small one was $20. Then they had mini assorted colors in bags. It finally dawned on me that they get things in so early so people who regularly craft can make things for the upcoming season, not so sure why it took me so long.

Do you know anyone with a cricut or silhouette machine? They are awesome for cutting stencils.

Do you know someone with a cricut or silhouette? I seems like it would be so much easier to do this with vinyl rather than trying to fill in a stencil on a curved object.

I would check out joanns and hobby lobby for stencils. You can always print out the letters on paper and cut it out and trace it on to the pumpkin with a pencil or something so you're not completely free handing

Fmil has one! I even looked at the supplies for that, I don't know why I didn't think of that!

Try printing different fonts on your computer. Once you find the size and font you want, use tracing paper to outline on the pumpkin. Then use your glitter paint (or paint of choice) and fill in the outline you made! Love the design - hope to do something similar for my daughter's wedding next fall :-)

If you have a cricut you can do vinyl.

You can also shop on etsy and find a seller that does custom vinyl stickers instead of doing it yourself.

Another suggestion, go to a local sign/vinyl shop and tell them what you want.

You could also buy the sticker letters at Michael's. They have some glitter ones I am considering using. I bought a pumpkin last week, was so happy to see them when I was there returning something. FH is working on the card box.

@Colleen and it is cheap!! Cut it out of heavy card stock if you want to use it as a stencil. Then paint away!!
