Who covers makeup and hair costs?

If you’re requiring your girls to get their hair and makeup professionally done, you should pay for it.


If it’s not mandatory, you can have them pay for themselves.

It’s better to give bridesmaids the option of getting their makeup and hair professionally done or doing it themselves. My bridesmaids are all my sisters and I know their financial situation pretty well which is why I decided to give them an option. They do their makeup and hair pretty well so if they choose to do that at least they’ll be happy.

If you aren’t comfortable doing your own makeup, I would hire someone, if only for yourself. Agree with others, you can give bridesmaid the option and they can pay if they choose but if you require it, you should pay.

I'm having a makeup artist and a hair stylist for myself. I asked my girls if they want their makeup and hair done, but they don't have to if they would rather do it themselves. One of my bridesmaids has opted to do her own hair and makeup, the other is just doing her hair, and my maid of honor is doing both. They are paying for their services.

I'm paying for hair and makeup for myself, and I'm paying for the bridesmaid's makeup. I then gave the bridesmaids the option of doing their hair themselves or getting a stylist to do it.

You cover your own cost. If you are requiring your bridal party get their hair & makeup done professionally, you should cover the cost of that as well. If it is optional, they can cover their own cost.
