This exactly. I always move to the back when we have my FMIL in the car, but I was also raised to respect the people older than myself

I usually offer the front seat to FHs mom, but she almost never takes me up on the offer. My mom gets super car sick in the back, so she always gets upfront.

I didn't watch the video, but no matter who's driving (though it's usually me), the parents get the front seat. For both of us it's simply respect for our elders. That being said, my mom does actually get super car sick when she's in the backseat, so she'd get the front seat no matter what. My siblings also get the front seat when hubby can convince them (though one of my sisters prefers the back), but they're all significantly older than we are, while hubby's siblings are all younger than us and get booted to the backseat.

We usually offer the front seat to the parent out of respect. I would not demand my SO get in back or have my mom demand she sits in back like the video infers what happened.

My mother-in-law usually sits in the back but if she wanted to sit in the front I wouldn't argue with her.

Spouse, unless the parent has health issues that make the backseat difficult. H is really tall, so his mom will often sit in the back if we ride with his parents so he can sit up front and not feel so squished.

Personally I always let the older crowd have the front seat. It shows respect in my book, BUT they were all a bunch of huge jerks, wife included!! There is no way in hell I would be married to someone who spoke to me and treated me that way, and his Mama could walk for all I cared, if she spoke to me that way!! This had to be staged for attention!

I believe the guy whose video it was is a social media comedian so the video was likely staged.
