Who got proposed to without a ring?

We actually were engaged before. He did the whole magical night, in Niagara falls, one knee, with ring. However, when we started planning the wedding...things didn't work out...so we called it off. Took some time to get our priorities straight. Bought a house. Now we decided it's time to make it official (our way) before we have children. So we booked a hall, then went and designed the perfect ring together. I couldn't be happier!

I did, he just kind of said he wanted to get married driving down the street 0on day and i picked out my ring, he dont like it, but the ones he liked i didnt lol

I did. I didn't even get a formal proposal but we both have been planning on getting married for quite some time but we were waiting for the finances and circumstances to be perfect. We finally got tired of waiting and just decided to go ahead and get it done. We bought a CZ ring the week after we decided and I wore that over the holidays when all the family was there.

We had a come to Jesus meeting and agreed to get married initially. We had been talking about it seems like forever and a day but he wasn't done paying for my ring. So he said the ring is coming, pick a date and start planning. So that's basically what we did but he refused to "officially" propose until he actually had the ring. I got my ring 91 days before the wedding lol.

As far as picking out the ring, I never wanted to pick my own. I told him what shape diamonds I DIDN'T like. Told him my favorite 3 shapes (ascher, emerald, princess). He showed me a bunch of pics and I told him what I liked and disliked about each one. But I had no idea whatsoever what my ring looked like until he gave it to me.

I was proposed without a ring. We have LDR since we first started dating. He proposed to me the day before he left to deployment. A week later I got my ring, woot!

In my first marriage, I was proposed to without a ring. We knew that we were going to use the diamond from a ring I inherited from my grandmother, and I definitely wanted to be involved in choosing the setting.

In my second marriage, we didn't have engagement rings at all. Neither of us felt really comfortable wearing a flashy ring in an urban area. We got plain gold wedding bands, but no engagement rings.

Yes but over the phone miles away...kind of a long distance relationship.. always wanted one like on tv in front of a crowd but.. dont matter long as he's mine 4ever im happy=)

Same as Diana, we got engaged & married all before the ring. I did get my ring a few months after we legally got married, and he got down on one knee and did it all cute. Instead of asking me to marry me, he told me this was his promise to be with me forever. It was really cute =)

First marriage was over the phone I was deployed to Saudi Arabia, He was at home(stateside) in Texas.

This time we know we wanted to get married and just didn't have money for rings. We finally found a set we both liked. Its on layaway and I have my E-ring when we pay off about $300.

I got proposed to without a real ring. He asked me only a few months into our relationship. I knew he was the right one for me so I said yes right away. He asked again with the whole *down on one knee* thing on his birthday at midnight. He gave me a *place holder* ring..but it broke because it wasn't real gold or silver. I was devastated. Right now my ring finger is empty..due to the money issues of being college students. But I know he loves me very much and I can not wait to spend the rest of my life with him. (But I also can not wait to have a real ring either).

I'm with someone different now than I was when I posted this in 2010, but we discussed this issue a few weeks ago. I want to pick out my own ring and he wants to surprise me with the proposal. I told him to either take me to pick it out months before he does it (so it's a surprise) or just propose without a ring, then we can pick one out. I'm not opposed to it.

He didn't get me an engagement ring... alright I understood as our engagement was not the normal one, although it was 9 months long . Then when we got married it was a Las Vegas cheap quicky and I realized he had not bought me a ring even though I had gotten him one. We agreed I could use one of my rings as a stand in till we could afford a ring. Now... almost 6 years later I still have no ring. We have discussed what kind of rings I like and in fact I told him a CZ ring would be fine, a ring from a pawn shop... I just want a ring. My heart is broken.. A man shows how much value his woman is worth by buying her a ring. A ring on her finger shows the world that she belongs to him. He wears his ring...and I have given up wearing my stand in ring. He is a good man, no complaints, and he does his best for us. Girls .. don't ever get married without a ring. If he does not want to get you a ring then you straight up know that the "you" in the relationship is not as important as the "we", if that makes any sense.
