My FH and I were camping when he proposed, and although he has always been a hopeless romantic..(leaving rose peddles on the bed for our 3 years dating anniversary) I was expecting some sort of hot sexy romantic engagement... boy was I wrong! he grabbed a piece of the carpet from the ratty old carpet falling apart outside our RV and tied the ring to the A/C vent... I walked by it twice before I even noticed it... I was caught of gaurd alright!

Mine was interesting. I had no idea that he would be proposing the day before thanksgiving anyhow. I was in the shower minding my own business when my now husband decides to propose to me while I am soaking wet, shampoo in my eyes. I almost slipped of the excitement. I had to ask him what did you say. I would not change it for any thing. Kinda romantic except that I had shampoo in my eyes. Smiley smile

I can't call mine lame, because it was creative, and very sweet. However, it was awkward. We went on a trip to Gettysburg (our first trip away together), and on the first day there, we got to our room and stuff. It was also my birthday, and he got me an mp3 player hidden in a game of uno cards. Then my fiance was like "I have a surprise, we are gonna get pictures taken outside in the garden." I was like okay. So we got dressed up, and went outside. This lady from the place started taking pictures of us, and then at one point she gave the camera to my fiance, and he said something like "Yeah don't wanna break it." and she's like "Yeah that would be bad", and she started walking away, and leaving, and I was thinking to myself okay then. The whole picture thing was very awkward, because I knew nothing about it. So then he told me how the camera was mine, and there was a picture that said "Will you marry me?" and I looked at him and he was awkwardly getting down on one knee sorta, and

I said yes, and then got back to playing with my new camera hahaha. I was very excited about this camera to really take in anything else. Then we went back in side and the people bombarded me, and apparently were looking out the windows watching. They wanted to look at the ring, and I was really weird and awkward because I was nervous.

I loved the way FH proposed but this is not the first time. I had 2 prior...One was my son's father and he thought it was the right thing to do. Basically, he walked into the apartment, did his half romantic speech...then left to go hang out with his buddy. (shouldve seen the doomed relationship sign there)

The second time, I didnt even say yes. I had been dating a guy for 6 months. Not serious. We went shopping at Walmart and we split up to get our own stuff and meet back at the car. When he got back, he handed me the plastic bag with the ring box in it and said "here ya go." I looked and it was a bridal set. I asked if he was proposing and he said "sure, why not". I politely told him no because apparently he felt stronger than I did....this is his response no joke "ok I'll ask my other gf" WTF? Needless to say he had alot of time to think during that walk home from the parking lot lol

Mine... It's cute and lame all at once. I knew that the proposal was coming even knew that he was at the store picking out my ring... The cute thing: FH is a truck driver and once a yr in my little town we have a trucker's parade so had all of my friends over for a BBQ waiting for FH to get here he calls and says he doesn't think he's gonna make it over cuz he had so much to do the next morning. Knowing that I was irritated by this he showed up here anyway. Oh keep in mind that the parade had gotten rained out so we were grilling out in the rain, drinks in the garage he pulls in the driveway and I always run to the car to give him a hug and kiss (well I haven't seen him all week cuz he's on the road), he looks at me and says: Well let's get this over with. I looked at him and said seriously??? He's says Well you already know I have the ring... But all in all it could not have been more perfect there in front of my friends I got engaged Smiley smile

Honestly, half of what I've read here is better than the same ole' "He took me to a beautiful restaurant and blah blah blah" or "I woke up on Christmas morning..." stories. That stuff is over done.

Now.. my FS proposed to me at the finish line of a 5K on our beach and he was wearing a penguin costume (literally... not a tux). Not lame at all, but I thought I'd share. Smiley smile

    2 points Tracy!!!!

okay, I'm sorry but I can't join the meley myself, however my Dad should.

Christmas Eve 1962, Mom's parent's home, he's getting ready to leave and turns around and faces Mom and her family (she is one of 10 kids) and throws small box at her, "here I know you want this" and walks out...

inside a perfect solitare surrounded in white gold, her favorite.

Next conversation,"it's to damn cold to wait until Spring to get Married"(Dad) and preceeded to move the wedding date up to 6 weeks, Feb 12,1962. Was so bad at moving the date, Mom did not even realize she did not have a wedding gown until 2 weeks before the wedding, and in the 60's that was a whole other story.

Oh, still married, Dad chases Mom around the house and they are "cute". Man of few words

My FH sent me a picture of a ring. I thought it was nice. Then he sent me a picture with the ring the jewlry box. I never read the caption. So, after 10 min he called me at work and asked if I saw pics? I told him yes I saw them. 1 min later a text with the ring on his finger that said "wil u marry me" You have to understand, my FH is the strong silent type. It fit him perfectly. Later that night, he got on bended knee at formally proposed

The day started off crazy, it was our three year anniversary and we were supposed to spend the whole day together and he had made tons of plans, but his brother got extremely sick and had to go to the hospital, so we put our plans on hold and i went to the hospital with him. they got his brother stabilized and everything was looking up, and he asked if i still wanted to go out and do stuff, so i said yes. I went back to my house to get ready (cause he said i had to dress nice) and he got ready too, and then we met back up and we went to olive garden (i had pretty much known what was going to happen so i was eating like a bird and didnt want anything in my teeth, haha) and then we went down to this rose garden that is at our city zoo/park and took a walk in there. it was nice but most of the flowers were dead, would've been prettier if they were alive, haha. and we sat in the gazebo and he got down on one knee and asked there Smiley smile

I had been really sick for a bit when he proposed. He had his heart set on doing it on our dating anniversary, so he did. I was in sweats, no makeup, absolutely sick to the bone. Could barely get out of bed. All his romantic, amazing proposal plans got scrapped because I couldn't even leave the house. Poor guy. He even bought this super expensive bottle of champagne from our favorite winery in Napa and had it shipped here, which I couldn't drink.....

I still get sad when I think about it. Smiley sad

@SoonToBeMrsTanzer: I seriously did not want an engagement ring. I had one in my first marriage that had a 2.75 karat stone in it. If I was traveling, out after dark, in a high crime area, etc., that ring made me feel very vulnerable. Even though the ring was insured, I didn't want someone hurting me to get it. I still have nightmares about that, and I stopped wearing it in 1995. I would have gotten NotFroofy an engagement ring if she had wanted one, but I saw no point to it for myself.

Each of us now wears a wedding ring that is a plain gold band. It fulfills the purpose of indicating that we are married, without being flashy enough to make us targets of crime.

Well here is my lame story. I love my fh but he sure didn't put too much thought or planning into it. we were laying in bed one night and he said I want to spend the rest of my life with you. How about we get married. I said sure when. He said how about 3 years from now. I said ok where is my ring? He said I didn't get one yet. lol. So a few weeks later I go to his job to see him and he says here and hands me my ring. lol. Now he wants to do it the right way and buy me a new ring and have an engagement party. I said there is no point now we need that money for the wedding.
