My FH and I were camping when he proposed, and although he has always been a hopeless romantic..(leaving rose peddles on the bed for our 3 years dating anniversary) I was expecting some sort of hot sexy romantic engagement... boy was I wrong! he grabbed a piece of the carpet from the ratty old carpet falling apart outside our RV and tied the ring to the A/C vent... I walked by it twice before I even noticed it... I was caught of gaurd alright!

@Karlyn- What do you mix with Blueberry Vodka? I bought a 1.75 liter of it and the only thing I found, after several trials, that I like was black cherry Koolaid. Random, but decent!

@Stacy- You're right- that is one of the least lame proposals ever! Our dogs are such an important part of our relationship that they almost SHOULD have been included.

Well, the one thing I really think was lame about my engagement is that I didn't hear half of it. I was watching TV and my FH had started getting poetic and I didn't hear. I looked over at him and that's when I realized what he was doing!

We’d only been dating for a month (known each other for a year as friends) and were watching SouthPark one night (the one where Kenny lives lol)when he turned to me and said that he was going to wait a few months to ask me to marry him. I said that was fine and that if it helped take the pressure off, I was going to say Yes. He said Great! About thirty minutes later, he looked all goofy, smiled and said, “What am I waiting for? I know I’m going to ask.” And then he did. And I asked if he were serious. And he was. And I said Yes.

In some circles, that might be lame. But for us, it was perfect. Even more so when you consider that we picked April 1st as our wedding date!

THANK YOU for this!!!! seriously I have always felt a little insecure about it because everyone expects the fairty tale engagement but ours wasn't either. We had been together a lttle over 3 years and were talking in bed about the whole baby fever. We also knew we were going to be together forever. So we decided if we were ready now then now is the time to get married before we had our kids and we better do it now. It felt like a real adult life decision. We actually have held off on rings to correct any loose in debts before marriage and bringing kids in our life, but have budgeted for the rings right before the wedding. I guess I have been lucky no one has asked how he popped the question because I was nervos they would think it sounds like a business deal lol.

I love this post! These stories are great! I put my poor FH through the ringer. He had initially planned on proposing on my birthday while we were in Las Vegas. He kept asking me to go up to the eiffel tower restaurant and I kept saying no because I am afraid of heights. It being my birthday and all, I started drinking and eventually got a little tipsy so FH decided to hold off until I was sober...oops. I had no idea he was planning on proposing. 2 weeks later at our apartment we were getting ready to go have dinner with his parents. I was on facebook and then our song started playing. I turned around and said "hey it's our song" he said "yeah"and then before I knew it, he was at my feet on one knee, shaking like a leaf. I started screaming "what are you doing?" and then he simply said "will you be my wife" and pulled out the perfect ring. I screamed right in his face "Are you serious" and then I started crying and said yes, This way was so us, and much better than vegas! I hate vegas!

So for ours, I knew it would be coming at some point because we had gone shopping together and picked out a ring we both liked. I wasn't allowed to know anything else after that (but when the bill came in the mail I knew it was really happening!)

Fast-forward a few weeks and pretty much any time it was quiet I'd ask if it was time yet. He kept saying it was taking longer than they thought, but it would be in by the end of the summer.

On a regular Friday night we had gotten dinner and were hanging out. As we were getting ready for bed Steve decided that this would be the perfect time to surprise me because I wouldn't be expecting it. We were getting ready to fall asleep when Steven started in with his proposal. When he finally asked (in a very Steven way), "would you like to do this husband/wife thing? Will you marry me?" I shriked and said yes.

Turns out he had had the ring for 4 weeks and was trying to find a time I wouldn't be expecting it (not to often!). Wouldn't change a thing.

Lance had been staying with me for a couple of weeks (he lived right across the parking lot at the same complex) and I told him that he had to go home and couldn't stay with me anymore. So my friend starts telling him how he should just marry me because then he could stay and think of the rent money we would save and blah blah blah. He went out on the balcony to smoke a cigarette, came back in and said "Okay. Let's do it." I stared at him for a few seconds and said, "Well, you have to actually ask me." so he did. We got married about a week and a half later (eloped) and we're finally having our "wedding".

Great man, great marriage, LAME proposal.

We have been together 9 years and have 2 kids together.... We never really talked about marriage. I may have you all beat because he ask me in a text lol He sent me a text and told me we need to go shopping. I was thinking, okay, what for??? I do all the shopping. He said he wanted me to pick out a ring we could afford and one I liked since I do all of our finances. We went the following week and picked out my rings and his band but he took my ring from me as soon as we left the store. The next day was our little girls 2nd birthday party so we had all of our family over.... at this point nobody else knew and probably never expected we would ever get married. When we brought Mackie's birthday cake out, he said he wanted to do something else first. He got down on one knee and did a beautiful proposal in front of our family.... my mom just bawled lol

I affectionately refer to my engagement as "The Thrust and Snatch" - we were camping with a bunch of friends and out of the blue he turns and asks (loudly), "SO... what would you say if I asked you to marry me?" I respond with, "well, y ou are very nice, I would say yes." He looks absolutely white and then runs inside the cabin that we rented for the week and comes out holding a ring box and sporting a huge dopey smile. Smiley laugh

It makes me laugh because he is usually so romantical... so it was completely unexpected!

Mine was kinda lame, well to me anyway, we had been at the beach with family the weekend before, and FH did something really stupid and I was mad as heck, and it takes a lot to get me that mad. Well upon returning home, all the next week I was waiting on him to say sorry, because he ALWAYS does when he's wrong. Well it was getting close for me to go on my girls cruise, May 9th and here it was May 7th and nothing, he still had not ask for my forgiveness Smiley smile, so I was in the kitchen and was complaining about how I was not going over all that water without him be sorry for what he did, I kept on and on about it. Then all of a sudden he said Claudette _______ my full name mind you, "I'm sorry". Then he turned to walk away and instead of walking he spund around and dropped to one knee. LOL!!! I was like "What in the world is he doing now" it was so fast, all of a sudden I was looking at him on one knee with ring in hand asking me to marry him. I just started screaming and screaming con't

And screaming some more, finally we hugged, kiss and were both crying, then he said you still haven't given me a answer, I of cousre said a big yes and yes I forgot all about the need to hear the words sorry. Not how I thought he would ask but I wouldn't change a thing.

Mine was pretty lame as well, however, I loved it! It was the day before Valentines day and I got my FH a deepfryer, because he likes to make his own home made fries. Well, he started to make dinner that night and he was going to make fries, so I said, can I please give you your V-day gift, and he was like, if I can give you yours. I said sure! So, I gave him his deep fryer, and he said ok, yours is in that drawer. So, I opened the drawer and saw a box, thinking it was earrings or something. I open it and my ring is there. It actually took me a few seconds to register what was happening. I look over at him and he's on one knee asking me to marry him! I was blown away! I actually think I asked if he was serious! LOL! It was perfect, in our home, together in our comfy clothes Smiley smile Wouldn't have it any other way!And I gave him a deep fryer!!!! HAHA!!!!!!!

Ha mine is similar and I’m happy I came across yours. Mine went like this:
laying in bed on New Year’s Eve before heading to friends and starting kissing. He asked “can you do me a favor and put this on?” He then reached over to his nightstand and pulled out a ring. I stared at him for like a minute in disbelief that THaT was how he was gonna ask? He was laying on top of me (clothed).
I don’t even remember when or if I said yes. I just put the ring on myself .
We had sex and he said I love you.
About half hour , 45 min later we went to my friends new year party. I didn’t even announce it...he told my friends and they were so happy and surprised. I was in shock because I wasn’t sure if I was “engaged” and how I felt like probably deserved more, being the girl he has loved since he was 15. We are in our 30’s now.

It felt like he was rushed and just wanted to get it over with because he maybe told my friends he was gonna do it that night? Still disappointed.
