who has funny wedding stories? I need a smile

Aronna, on April 4, 2014 at 12:37 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22

I'm in a rut, and I need to get wedding projects done. I need a mood lift.

I've been stressing too much over 'what if _______ happens?' normally I'm the first one with advice on how to roll with it,but lately I'm not doing well.

who's got funny wedding stories? like the ring bearer that telling the video guy that he hates green beans, the flower girl that dances throughout the ceremony, the mom that insists on wearing a flower as big as her head-

anyone?

At my sisters 11:00 brunch wedding, I had to chase down 8 wasted bridesmaids because they had been doing shots of tequila since 8am, and couldn't be bothered to get together for the wedding procession. My sister didn't find out about it until after she got back from her honeymoon.

I went to an informal wedding on the beach last summer. We were all standing around waiting for the ceremony to start when we realize the groom and groomsman disappeared. Then we look over above a big rock and see a puff of smoke coming up. They were smoking weed behind a rock before the start of the ceremony..........clearly we are from Oregon. As a bride, though, I wouldn't find this funny at all.

As I was waiting for DH to leave the ceremony site after he and the GMs took their pictures, I was parked on the side of the road and a cop pulled up behind us and got out to make sure we were all ok. haha

Family friends of ours got married in the Dominican Republic a few years ago. My parents went to the wedding. During the ceremony, which was on the beach facing the water a bunch of other tourists started walking by and checking out the ceremony. Well a few of the ladies were topless and not nice topless ladies, think older and things falling down. The bride's father managed to catch the whole thing on video. Now imagine watching your wedding video with topless people in the background of your wonderful beach ceremony.

One of our ring bearers (DH's 7 year old nephew) is a smarty pants and wants to be involved in everything. He's adorable and annoying at the same time... Anyway, our officiant was telling our story before the vows and made a comment about something accompanied by a laugh - "Mua-ha-ha." No sooner has the officiant laughed, than the nephew laughs the same way but louder. It cracked everyone up and was perfect.

The photographer was making sure that our bridal party laughed in a photo, and told them the story of how she made DH comfortable with her during our engagement photo session - by yelling inappropriate (and anatomically correct) words for genitalia. Coming from a good Mormon girl, it makes it even funnier to hear her yelling words like that. PENIS! VAGINA! It was hilarious...

I was followed all night by a 4 year old boy and 1.5 year old girl (DH's other nehpew, and niece) who kept asking me to dance. "Aunt Kiki, aunt Kiki, wanna dance??" It was adorable, and we have pictures of me trying to learn and teach The Wobble at the same time.

Lastly, the photographer told DH to kiss me like she wasn't there "Go ahead and use tongue" she said. "I won't show those to anyone." So DH sticks out his tongue to be silly, and I laugh, so the photo looks like he's trying to lick my nose or something. It makes me smile.

Also, my car looked like this at the end of the night....

At my MOH's wedding 11 years ago, we were running so incredibly late to the ceremony location, the limo driver decided he was going to drive on the shoulder of the highway the whole way because traffic was gridlocked. Her parents followed behind us.

And then he went to the wrong location.

I then proceeded to get really, really wasted at her reception, and her parents tasked me with making sure I got their anniversary cake tier into their car. Who tasks the drunk bridesmaid with something like that?! I dropped it. Upside down.

But god damn if that fondant didn't hold up. My MOH didn't find out about that until last year.

OH. And last year I attended a wedding where one of the BMs fainted at the altar. The minister's wife told L and I that this happens in 1 of 5 weddings.

    I was entertained.

The ceremony venue was a beach in hawaii, and we had to park next to a main road to walk down a path to get there(super secret beach). As we were walking next to the road(im in the full gown/veil) someone driving by rolls down their window and screams full voice: "DONT DO IT" and laughs hysterically as they drive by.

This isn't quite funny, but it was to me because I wasn't the bride lol. At my aunts wedding her ex-boyfriend came uninvited in jeans and a fire department jacket. Then he took all of the disposable cameras on the table (this was a decade ago lol) and used ALL of the film to take pictures of his balls and then put the cameras back. My aunt was very shocked to see those lol.

Happened at my first wedding many years ago. As my father was walking me down the aisle of a large "formal" church, I caught a glance of my grandmother (father's mom) sitting in the second row with a head full of those pink snap top curlers. Came to find out later that day that she was told by relatives that family pictures come after the service and she wanted to make sure her hair looked good.

Not really funny, but amusing to me: My new niece, 2 1/2 year old (one of the flower girls) was crying so much right before the ceremony in the back. We were already running late bc of late bridesmaids (one didn't make it until the reception) & the lovely attendants for my venue did everything they could to make her happy (candy). She had a petal dress on that got ripped twice in the parking lot so all her petals were falling out everywhere. Well she walked down and almost into a row of chairs and cried out that she wanted ice cream during the ceremony. During our first dance she came up to us and said she wanted to dance. My husband picked her up and we all danced together. Then she said, put me down and tried to push him away to grab my hands to dance with me. She also photo bombed alot of ppl in the photobooth. We won't go into the drunken overly flirtacious uncle (his), cousin & brother in law and what came out their mouths. "You know I love me some mocha women" was one.
