Who is doing your hair for your big day?

Amanda, on June 14, 2019 at 12:02 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13

I want my usual hair stylist to do my hair for my big day, but I also know that traveling for her to come to me is not an option. So I have to chose to either have my hair done by someone I don't know that is closer to my venue or have my hair stylist do my hair (and makeup) and I have to drive to the venue with my hair done to get ready. What have you done?

How far is your hair stylist? If you trust and like her and it's not too far, I'd probably use her and then just drive to the venue afterwards... but I'm guessing that I'm probably in the minority with that opinion! Have you asked her if she is willing to travel to your venue? You'd probably have to pay her extra for that, but it might be worth it.

You could also ask her if she has anyone to recommend who would travel to your venue! My regular hair dresser doesn't do styling at all (just cutting) and he didn't have anyone to recommend, but I spoke with my wax lady who I've known for about a decade, and she recommended a girl in her salon who does hair styling and will travel... she was GREAT. I feel like a personal recommendation from someone you trust is the best way to go if you can't find someone who you know yourself... and make sure to do a trial!

I'm driving to my hair stylist first thing in the morning with my sister (MOH) and my mom as part of our getting ready time. It is not ideal but my stylist couldn't take the day off just to do my hair. Going to her is cheaper and only a 20 minute ride. I will then go back to my house for makeup and getting dressed.

My hair stylist is about an hour away from the venue. I did ask her and that's how I know she can't really travel - I may ask her to do my hair in the salon and then could she come for touch ups later. She just can't bring her full set up to do my hair. I may ask her if she knows someone who will travel, if this isn't a possibility.

I wanted to do something like this for my sister (MOH) and my mom too, but not sure about traveling so far with our hair done. My future MIL lives closer to the venue, I may ask her about her stylist and see what's available...

I didn’t like the expensive prices of hair and makeup that come to you, so we are going to the salon and then driving to the venue and it’s about 40 minutes away.

I was considering the same thing, but opted against having my hair professionally done. My normal stylist lives and works nearly 45 minutes away from my venue and it logistically didn't make any sense. Plus, I didn't want my girls to feel obligated to get theirs done either. So we've decided to pool all of our resources together and DIY our hair and make up.

I'm having the person that normally does my hair come to my venue to do it. She is also one of my mom's best friends so she was going to be invited as it is, along with her husband.

I did two trials before booking, and found a woman I really love who is coming to our venue's bridal suite!

We had our hair and makeup done at a salon located next to our hotel (which was next to our reception venue and about 15 minutes in traffic from the ceremony venue). So we had full hair & makeup done, then drove to the ceremony location. It worked fine for us, since lord knows we were sprayed, set and pinned to last all day.

For my first wedding I went to the salon to have my hair done then had a 30 minute drive to the ceremony. Just make sure to sit with your back off the seat.

I did a trial with a HMU artist and liked her work so I booked her. She will be coming to my bridal suite at the venue and doing mine, my bridal party, and both our mothers hair & makeup.

My salon is at least an hour away from my venue...the time will all depend on traffic and weather.
