Are you getting married where you grew up / the place you consider home? If not, why did you choose the state/country/etc for your wedding? *Katelyn James Photography

We're getting married near our hometowns. Well, sort of: it's near FH's hometown and my parents also have lived near there since I was 7 or 8.

From Charlotte, NC and getting married in Brooklyn, NY. Almost all of our friends, and most of his family is here in Brooklyn so it made sense.

We went back to our hometown in Wisconsin to get married. It was too expensive for everyone to come to Alaska for our wedding.

FH & I are both born & raised in NYC (Manhattan for me, Brooklyn for him) our Ceremony is in the Church my family attends in Manhattan and reception is in Brooklyn. Our families & friends are all here, with the exception of a few of his relatives who still live in Trinidad.

In my hometown. It is only 30 min away and I have a huge family so 70% of guests live 5 minutes from the venue. Choosing our reception site was a no brainer. Not to mention FH works at the local custom.cabinet shop and he built their newly installed bars for the reception hall. They look amazing but I am biased.

I got married about half an hour from my hometown. I wasn't really attached to getting married IN my hometown and the only venue is the same place I had my 8th grade dance, which I didn't want. DH and I were living 300 miles away, but both our families are in Central Mass, near where the wedding was, including one set of my grandparents. I wanted them to be there. We were also thinking a fall wedding initially, and the foliage is better in MA than PA. We also didn't really have anywhere in PA in mind for a wedding and since we were planning on moving back to MA at some point (and visiting our families here throughout planning) it wasn't that hard to have the wedding in MA.

We're getting married where we met/went to school and the general area where I was born & raised.

The majority of our families and friends are there (or still have parents in the area) and it was MUCH cheaper.

We got married in our area, but not our hometown. There's only a couple venue options there, none of which we were interested in Smiley smile

We're getting married in our home state of Maryland. Our venue is about 20 minutes from where we live currently (my hometown), but technically it's not the same city.

We are not getting married in our home home town, but the next nearest city. We chose the church I grew up in and the church that we have both been baptized in. The reception is then just a couple blocks away. It helps that we grew up together as well.

We were originally going to get married where I grow up (Philadelphia, pa). But due to expenses, and timing it wasn't working out. So we got married here, where we met and where we live.

We're getting married in my hometown at the church I went to until I moved 4 years ago. My pastor is the one who gave my first communion and confirmed me. I have a huge extended family (mom has 10 brothers/sisters, dad has 5) and 90% of them and my friends are there. FH's hometown is where we live now but his family is really small so it makes more sense to get married in mine. Plus I would've been really disappointed if I couldn't have been married in my church with my pastor that I grew up with.

I am actually getting married five miles from the house where I grew up. Didn't necessarily plan it that way, but it just worked out. Kind of brings everything full circle to me.

We share the same hometown (where we met) so we considered doing it there, but we decided on our current home, which has been for 5 years now. We decide to do it here because planning would be much easier and there are a lot more options for vendors since our hometown is very small. And not to mention it's only about 3 hrs away driving so most of our guests are coming from there and are perfectly fine with it.

We got married in my "new hometown"--where DH grew up, and where we now live. I am very glad we got married at a place we can go back to all the time and all my wedding memories are right around here.

My FH and I are both from Denver but we live in Portland now. We love it here and are planning to have the ceremony near our new home! We are going to have a wedding celebration the summer before in Denver to accommodate those who can't make the trip northwest. That plan seems to be working perfectly and is keeping everyone happy and involved! ??

We are getting married in Mexico, but hosting a reception in our hometown six weeks later. FH didn't want to get married there, so we spent a lot of time looking elsewhere in our province. Finally, we decided Mexico, and a compromise of a reception in our hometown. Vacation and a couple of parties -- best of both worlds! Smiley smile
