Are you hiring an officiant for your wedding ceremony? Or are you asking a family member or friend to officiate?

Lol, I haven't heard that one before, that's hilarious! 😂 I'm also including some humor into my vows. My fiance's favorite hockey team is a big rival of my favorite hockey team, so I added some lines into our vows related to that.

I agree that having an officiant who you know personally will help make the ceremony even more meaningful! Awesome that your friend is already familiar with how to officiate a wedding!

We had the minister who did our premarital counseling perform our ceremony. It was super sweet and he and his wife loved being included in our special day. His wife actually gave me her tiara to wear as a surprise for my "something borrowed." They didn't charge us anything which is nice. We have passed along the favor since being ordained that we don't charge for weddings if someone needs and officiant.

Very cool that your officiant became your friend! Super kind of her to also offer to do a private ceremony and the big ceremony at no extra cost. Sounds like she was the perfect choice for you!

She really was! She actually made the effort to get to know us, and her service was absolutely beautiful. Now I'm Facebook friends with her, and she likes my Wordle posts all the time! Smiley laugh

We had a whole ordeal with our celebrant - when we postponed, we checked with all our vendors including our celebrant (who had married our friend and my BIL and his wife, so was quite meaningful to us) and she said she was free, only to call us a few weeks later to tell us she'd accidentally double-booked us. She passed us off to some other celebrant we weren't sure we liked but decided to go ahead with regardless ... only for that celebrant to tell us just before we could pay the deposit that they were ALSO booked out!

We must have emailed at least 20 celebrants and were starting to panic when we found the lady we used and my goodness, she was THE BEST. Just the loveliest, most organised woman, and honestly so much better than our original celebrant! Everything was thought through end to end, and she included so many lovely little details and touches - a lot of our guests told us how sweet and special our ceremony was afterwards.

She also gave us the sweetest gift - a name change kit since I am changing my name, plus a little rabbit statue which was perfect as I LOVE rabbits and mentioned them in my vows.

It was so nice to have that experience after the stress of losing our original choice - looking back, it was the best thing that could have happened!

That was so sweet of his wife to let you borrow her tiara, and super kind of him to not charge you anything for the ceremony! Great picture!

Oh wow, that does sound like quite the ordeal to find a celebrant! I like to think that everything happens for a reason, which seems true in your case, since the accidental double booking led you to an even better option than your original celebrant! Sounds like she put in a lot of effort to make it a beautiful and special ceremony for you. That was also super sweet of her to give you the meaningful gifts. Glad you found the perfect celebrant for your wedding! (Also, congratulations on your wedding!!)

It really was! all changes we had to make due to our postponement worked out in our favour, honestly! We were super grateful.

And thank you so much! it was such a magical day, just so much better than we'd even hoped we'd be lucky enough to get.

We're having (hopefully) the mayor officiate. It's allowed in Pennsylvania.

A friend that knows us both will be our officiant. He is super excited and happy we asked. I had no idea how expensive an officiant was until we started looking, I saw one as high as $850 which was well out of our price range.

My cuzn is officiating us first we had someone of the church that I used to attend but our schedules were not matching up. Plus she knows our story and we both felt alittle bit more comfortable and she knows us. And we had to the whome introductions of telling him about us in depth details. So we have started our marriage counseling session already. He is shy and may not be so forthcoming as he is with her it is going very well

Definitely cheaper to ask a friend or family member to officiate (assuming the state allows it), and it makes the ceremony very meaningful! My fiance and I also asked a friend to officiate our wedding.
