Who is using Bagpipes at their wedding?!?

Katie , on March 30, 2013 at 12:47 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

We are having pipers at our ceremony. They will play a medley of three songs.

Bridal Party: Loch Lommand (If they can learn LOTR - Concerning Hobbits)

Surprise entrance from my brothers: Danny Boy (*Misty Mountains Cold)

Bride/Father: Flower of Scotland (*Braveheart learned - Gift of a thistle)

The recessional, when the piper plays and leads the Bride & Groom down the isle and continue playing till the wedding party exits the location. Then later that evening prior to the reception the wedding party and guests will gather on one end of the park attached to the reception building and be let by the piper to the party!

WHO ELSE?!? I can't wait to hear. If not the pipes, what kind of music?!?

I love this idea! FH and I went to a Irish Catholic wedding. The bagpipes were my favorite part of the entire ceremony. I didn't recognize any of the songs played, but they were all beautiful.

The church where we are having our ceremony has a 30 piece orchestra. I cannot wait to sit down with the music director and go over the music.

My best friend's Dad hired someone to play the bagpipes as the processional started. They are Irish and it was beautiful! It was a solo act and it was amazing to have just one sole piper....people started crying as soon as he started!! I really want bagpipes... but I don't know if it would fit... we'll see Smiley winking

Brevard Minister has a valid point, they are loud. Luckily we'll be outdoors in an amphitheather.

Yay ksenia b! You can youtube a bunch of classics that most pipers would know! Christine I hope you can find a fit.

We are sort of - I have a cd full of Bagpipe music. When I listened to one particular track, I just knew it was my "march" if you will lol. I've got Scottish heritage, FH has Irish. I've always known I wanted bagpipes at my wedding, but we cant afford live.

So the cd will have to suffice lol. It's beautiful tho, everytime I hear my fav, I get all teary. I want all the ceremony music to be bagpipes too, so I'm making a mixed cd for that.

@Masquerade, You should hit up the local high schools, often time they actually have students that play decent enough that will do it at no cost, even teachers Smiley smile

I've considered that, but I've also gotten myself so pumped about making the cd & using my fav to walk down the aisle, that trusting high-schoolers or non-professionals to do it, freaks me out. I'm a control freak lol, it's either all in or DIY all the way lol

My fiance and I are getting married this summer in July at our Colorado Renaissance Faire. I get to be led up to the chapel from the back royal gardens by "the King's Piper". It is a bit of a walk from one area to the chapel and I've been googling stuff for ideas, not sure what to pick for a song to be led by. I love celtic music, Celtic Thunder is one of my favorite groups.

Ok for anyone who has done this or has better insight than myself haha, I love the highland cathedral and have a cd for the beginning of the precessional for my bridesmaids etc. Then I plan to have a solo bagpiper play the highland cathedral while I walk down the isle. Do you think this will sound funky?
