Who is walking you down the aisle?

Jae, on December 8, 2013 at 9:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 52

Who is everyone having walk them down the aisle on the big day? Mine will be my brother because my dad passed away unexpectedly in 2012. I was a total daddy's girl so it makes me really said that it won't be my dad, but I think he would be happy that my brother is going to take his place.

What about everyone else?

I'm so sorry your dad won't be there. It's beautiful that your brother is walking down the aisle. My dad walked me down the aisle at my first wedding. Both my mom and dad are walking me down this time.

ETA: I'm a total daddy's girl too, and I can only imagine how hard it would be if he wasn't able to walk me down the aisle.

My mom will be walking me down the aisle. She's my rock! She raised my two sisters and I all on her own and my dad was only involved when it was convenient for him. He'll be invited to the wedding though.

My son is walking me down...he's my rock, it's been me and him all his life so it seems fitting that he does the honors.

My dad passed away in 2001. I was bummed that he wouldnt be there to walk me down the aisle. So I was going to ask my brothers to do it, until my mom's bf called me and asked if I could please let him walk me down the aisle. I was surprised and I just couldn't say no. He's been so supportive with all my wedding planning.

I will be having my two little girls (11 and 13) and my son (9) walk me down the aisle. And instead of "who gives this woman" they will be asked "will you accept this man into your family?" And fiancé will be asked "do you accept this family?"

Sorry to hear your dad passed away already. I count myself very blessed to have Dad walk with me. **hugs** FH's cousin's father passed away Father's Day this past June and got married in Oct. Her brother walked with her, but we could all feel her Dad throughout the night. I am sure yours will be with you too.

Your Dad will be with you. What about some kind of subtle memorial like the little pictures in the bouquet frames? My Mother passed when I was kid so I am bound and determined Dad will be there. That being said I went to a quilt bingo the day after my first wedding dress shopping appt and won a quilt. The one and only wedding ring quilt there with 500 people playing! She is with me in spirit and her rings, along with those of both grandma's will be going down the aisle with me.

Thanks for the kind words all =) I'm glad you'll all have special people walking with you!

@Jet that's awesome, I am sure my dad will be there in spirit. I know he wouldn't miss it for the world!

@Susan thanks for the nice ideas! I am actually planning on putting a picture of me and him in a bouquet charm so he's still walking me down the aisle. That quilt was definitely a sign from your mom that she's there! So sweet.

Sorry to hear about your dad. My dad passed away a 8 days before my first marriage my mom walked me down the isle. This time my son will walk me down the isle. FYI I was a definitely a daddy's girl all the way. Any of you that have the opportunity for your father to walk you down the isle take it, some of us will never experience that or a father daughter dance.

My dad died when I was 16 and my mom died last year, so my father's best friend (who, really, was my mom's best friend, too) is walking me down the aisle.

My dad is walking me down the aisle, for clarification, he's my step dad, but raised me since I was 3, so I call him dad. My bio dad will be there, but he didn't come around til after I was 18. Even though we have a relationship now, there is no way in hell I would ever take that honor from my dad (step). My dad told me I could pick whoever or have them both walk me down, but my mom told me that since we got engaged, well before since they knew a week before I did, that it's all he's been talking about!! My wedding, walking me down the aisle, father daughter dance. It never crossed my mind to have anyone else, but I thought it was sweet of my dad to leave the decision up to me, even though he was excited about it.

I'm sorry about your dad. My dad's sort of a mixed bag and since my mom isn't thrilled with the wedding he might be a no show to keep the peace. With that being said, I'm pretty sure my brother will walk me down the aisle (I'm actually committing to him and if dad comes he comes).
