Who pays?

Who typically pays for the honeymoon?? I am fortunate enough to have my father pay for the entire wedding with a budget of 75,000 but i do not want to over do it and have him pay for the honeymoon as well. I am very curious to know who typically pays for the honeymoon?

Well if you are from a very wealthy family then go ahead and ask them to also cover your honeymoon. Just put it on the black card.

@LB I don't feel like big budget "shaming" is happening here. It's more like big budget "disbelief and awe", because it just isn't the norm and is a little shocking to think about when people are actually able to throw those pinterest, flower covered weddings. (It's a lifestyle that most will never know).

@Kate if both parents are neurosurgeons and her father is director of neurosurgery, then ya she comes from a wealthy family.

ETA: Once again spending $75K doesn't mean you get everything you want. OP is having a large wedding her venue is gonna eat up a lot of her budget and she might have to make compromises on other things. A bigger budget doesn't always get you everything you want

@OG i was not judging anyone and i apologize if it seemed that way because that was not my intentions but i do feel like o was being attacked for asking a question i was curious about but hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i did not take anything personal but i just thought i throw a little more information about myself out there since so many people had something to say and I'm going to thank you for your response and opinion as well

@FutureMrsS People calling it "excessive" seems like shaming to me.

@LB depends on the area that you live in....in my area honestly it would be "excessive", but I live in one of the cheapest cost of living states. It also depends on everything you want in a wedding...flowers, guests, ect.

Not on here to pick a fight! I'm just stating my opinion

@Kate if the family is wealthy they are wealthy. To be fair people were asking her how her parents could afford such a wedding. She answered the question

@Lynnijah I asked cause of your name that is why.

@Kate does it leave a bad taste in your mouth of people asking her what her parents do and what her background is? Of course OP responded the way she did. She was basically asked to...

Also, $75K is not a lot of money to shell out for "wealthy parents". I've heard stories of kids I grew up with who went to weddings where it was common to go to weddings that were $100K plus and this was 20-30 years ago.

I know Portuguese and Italian parents who have been blue collar workers their whole lives and they shell out $75k cash for their daughter's wedding

LB, I don't think Kate or Keisha asked what her parents did. I went back and reread the comments and I don't see where anyone asked her what her parents did.

I also don't think Keisha asked about her background to shame her, but of genuine interest.

Who was budget shaming her? I think some of us were just in awe, Not shaming. I tried to explain what i meant.

I asked about her parents investment portfolio. I didn't care how they made their money but what they did with it. I need to make a come up in life lol. I asked where she was from cause the name sounds Nigerian

@HB I re-read and agreed. I feel like OP responded the way she did due to everyone being so "stunned" about how "excessive" it was and felt the need to explain herself.

Also, originally I thought Keisha was being snarky with the background question, but based on her follow up I agree. Keisha completely sees where OP is coming from, unlike others...

ETA: That being said, I'm pretty sure OP got her answer about the HM lol
