I'm doing most of the planning and managing the budget...I've said this quite a few times.

DH, definitely. He thought cake would be like, $50. He thought decorations would be way less. He thought there wasn't much to do with planning period, but seeing me running around and all the boxes that filled up our apartment changed his mind really quickly!

This was definitely FH. Neither of us have been married before so there were definitely a lot of sticker price shock but since I did most of the research for vendors and venues, I was less shocked than him, lol. When we found that pricing for a good photographer in our area started in like the $1000 range, he was like "Don't they just point a camera and click?" We've had multiple arguments when it came to budgeting and signing vendors because he tends to worry a lot about financials (we could win the lottery and he would still worry about money) and I'm more of the let's just do it kind of person, this is how we balance each other out, lol.

Both of us. We kind of figured rentals would be expensive, but once we got the quote we just sort of stared at it, not really processing the numbers we were witnessing lol

Luckily for us, our venue supplies chairs for both ceremony and reception (outside ceremony, inside reception)

Me! FH is totally down to spend money on our day I'm a little tighter with the purse strings!

I say that everytime I look at a price lol

My FH was pretty much surprised by the cost of EVERYTHING. Eventually, he got used to it! Hahaha.

Neither of us. No need for us to rent chairs.

Thankfully, these gorgeous chiavari chairs come with our venue. But chargers, why? Even the plastic ones. 💰💰💰💰

View Quoted Comment The thing I found most shocking was the serving platters for shared appetizers and candlesticks. Rental companies also tend to add on more than you actually need, even with accounting for extras. We had our caterer review our rentals and made serious adjustments.

Fortunately, our venue is providing the chairs, so neither! But we've definitely said it about almost everything else...

Me! While he has consistently been the one with sticker shock, this one was all me. Our venue told us that they had a preferred vendor they had worked with in the past, and she told us the general cost for those chairs. By the time that we were ready to get that nailed down, apparently, they were no longer in business, and the rental company I found had higher prices than I was expecting based on that estimate from our venue (but by no means a terrible price). I was surprised, but reworked the budget and all worked out fine.
