Who wears a boutonniere?

Meagan, on April 2, 2019 at 9:54 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24
Obviously I know the groom wears one and so do the groomsmen. So my question is do the fathers get them as well? My dad is walking me down the aisle and his is officiating. We should get them boutaniers? Maybe something a little different? Also we should get the moms corsages too right?

It’s up to you. Some people do them for parents and grandparents, some people just do parents, some people do none. Our parents will have them.

You can get them boutineers but if you want to save money you don't have to. It's really up to whoever you and your FH want to have them. We're getting them for the fathers.

It’s a preference. But I did order boutonnières for both dads, best man, groomsmen, ring boy and my nephew who is not in the wedding (just wanted him to feel included).

Also so I ordered both moms corsages. Trust me they will feel so special and included. My niece who is also not in the wedding, will have flowers on her wrist. My florist said it is like a bracelet of flowers.

Same here! Although I didn’t think about getting one for the ring bearer.

    In formal weddings:

    Boutonnieres: groom, groomsmen, (step)dads, Grandpas

Flower girls: flower crowns and a basket of flower petals

    Corsage: mothers, grandmothers

    Bridesmaid bouquet: bridesmaids

    Bridal bouquet: bride

And we're barely doing any of that because we chose the biggest darn floral holiday (Valentine's day) and holy crap everything flowers is more expensive... We are doing a bride bouquet a groom boutonniere. Try to figure out something for the bridesmaids to hold (air plant terrarium? Succulent in a pot? Just baby's breath?) And nothing for parents / grandma... We simply can't afford $1000 . My budget is $200-$400

It's really up to you. I have seen wedding with no boutonnieres, and 1x lily per BM, and wedding with it all out. It's what you want, and can afford. There really isn't any perfect answer. I did:

Boutonnieres: groom, groomsmen, junior groomsmen, dads, grandfather of the groom

Flower girls: I got a flower girl ball for them to carry - they are little 2 year old

    Corsage: MOB, MOG

    Flower pin: grandma of groom

MOH bouquet: basically a BM bouquet but a bit bigger - we used extra greens for an extra $15.00.

    Bridesmaid bouquet: bridesmaids
    Bridal bouquet: bride

I am also a bit thrifty, so, I am not doing center pieces. The venue has hurricane candles & one of my BM is using her Michael's discount to help me buy stuff to decorate the base. I am also not buying flowers for the ceremony. It will be at the venue, so I will buy flowers the day before the event @ our local produce junction & pull the petals off and then use them to line the rows.

If you’re asking for the traditional answer I’d say groom, groomsmen, ushers, officiant, fathers, and grandfathers. I’ve even seen boutonnières on ring bearers too, but we opted out of this one due to our ring bearer only being 3 years old.
