Who Witnessed Your Proposal?

My proposal was just us - and a little black kitten we had found along the way! We were walking around our college campus in the evening the day after Christmas and we found a kitten that followed us all the way over to the landmark where my fiancé had planned to propose. So the kitten was our only witness 😆 of course we took him home. I am very glad it was just us - although I love being the center of attention I feel like that is something best kept more private in my personal opinion. Our families will all be at the wedding so no need to get them all there just for the proposal - but sounds like we’re in the minority on this haha. To each their own!

I completely agree with you - I would not have wanted anyone I knew to witness our proposal, and I definitely wouldn't have wanted a super public proposal (such as, on the jumbotron at a sporting event, on stage at a concert, etc). I'm fairly shy, and I don't like attention on me. I was OK with there being a couple (but not many) random strangers around - especially since we got their photos from it! - but otherwise would have preferred it to be just me and him. I do love seeing other public proposals though! To each their own!

Random people at the park lol. He picked a spot where lots of people like to take pictures so that he could ask someone to "take our picture" before he popped the question.

My friend came along. We went to my favorite winery. We were supposed to go with our couple friends two weeks prior but one got called into work so we didn't go then.

View Quoted Comment She actually didn’t know until that morning so like 3 hours before haha she texted me that morning that she wasn’t feeling well so I told him and he later told me he messaged her on Facebook and was like “I heard you’re not feeling well but I really need you to come today because I’m planning on asking Maria a very important question and I need you to document it!” 😂

Just me and my future husband. I don’t like the idea of people, especially people I don’t know, clapping for me. My fiancé is pretty shy and I’m social butterfly, but I don’t like attention drawn to me. He proposed when we took a mini vacation to Pittsburgh during our second to last semester of college. We were in the middle of the woods with no one else around. Some people might not think it wasn’t romantic enough, but it was perfect to me.

There were a couple random strangers around at the time my now husband and I got engaged, but it wasn't like a huge crowd or anything like that. Getting engaged in the middle of the woods sounds so romantic! Did you suspect that he was going to propose during that trip? Or was it totally unexpected?

View Quoted Comment I kinda ruined it because I got home early from a class right when the ring came in the mail. We went on the trip a month later, so I was totally expecting it. However, I didn’t know what day and when he was gonna do it so it was kinda surprising.

It was just the two of us in front of our Christmas tree on Christmas Eve before we went to my parent's house to celebrate with the rest of the family. He apparently had the ring for longer than we have been dating since it was his great grandma's he said it was a very spur of the moment thing and decided it literally while he was driving home from the last day of work before Christmas and now was the time. It definitely caught me off guard.

My mom, dad and my grandfather witness my proposal. We had talked about getting married and we had picked out our rings and we came up with a planned on how to surprise them but it didn't work out that way. We are glad it didn't as we had planned it bc it turned even better. We went to my mom's house and we started talking to her and my grandfather in the kitchen. She asked husband (at that time my boyfriend) how things was going? Then she turns to me and asked me the same thing. And that is when he decided to pull out the ring and propose to me. My mom started saying oh my God, oh my God and she wait and she started to call my dad from the basement. the look on my dad's face was like what now bc he had just walked down to the basement. it was hilarious she was beside herself. It was priceless. And that is when my husband got down on one knee and proposed to me in front of my mom, dad and grandfather.

My cat. I think. She may have been sleeping. Lol


I said If I was ever proposed to in public I would say no, as I don't like the attention on me. He listened. Very grateful he didn't try to do it in front of a bunch of people. We are going to have a whole day where we are "center of attention" that will be enough to last me a lifetime 😂
