Whole 30 **january 2020**

Amanda, on October 27, 2019 at 6:41 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 1 7

Hey Brides of WW!!

I was just on a girls trip with 3 of my BM's in Budapest and while we were sitting at a cafe' eating pastries (SO GOOD but SO BAD) and amazing coffee we realized we need to get our butts in gear for 2020. We decided we are all going to do Whole 30 starting in January 2020 then keep up the results using a modification of the program and exercise. When I got home from my trip I was talking to FH about it and he wants in on it also...and literally the majority of our bridal party...so naturally I would like to extend our group journey here to WW.

Whole 30 is a diet plan that basically eliminates bad foods (read sugar, alcohol, complex carbs, dairy) from your diet for just one month to literally reset your digestive system and brain. I've known a few people who have done it and loved it (when it was over lol) and it helped them truly kick start their health and wellness routine for long term weight loss and toning.

We can use this thread as a jumping off point where we can check in on each other and share things like recipes, tricks and news. Our big day is June 27, 2020 and my goal is to be back down into my "driver's license weight" of 135 and I'm currently 155.

Anyone want to join us on this journey to post holidays???

Woooo I LOVE whole30. I've completed my first two this past year (Feb & Sept). While I won't be able to do a complete whole30 this January bc I have sooo much going on, I would love to join in as much as I can and offer support/tips for others. Whole30 is so much more than a diet, it's truly a lifestyle change and I would say my fiance and I eat whole30 probably about 80% of the time since completing the 30 days.

    Some tips from my experience:
    1. Research the program before starting Whole30 and understand it.
    2. Make sure your house is whole30 compliant. Get rid of, donate, or hide anything that isn't within the program. Out of sight, out of mind.
    3. Try to have a partner join with you for support and if your household won't join you, let them know what you're doing and make sure to have their full support. You will have temptation.
    4. Make a menu for the week!!!! This is hard at the beginning, but so worth it. Not only will you know what you're having each week, but you'll buy exactly what you need and reduce grocery waste.
    5. Have "emergency meals" available as a backup plan. Something quick you can whip up like canned tuna with whole30 compliant mayo on a bed of lettuce for when you're on the run.
    6. Follow the whole30 accounts on Instagram. @Whole30Recipes features someone new each week and they introduce you to a whole new world of recipes and things you can do on whole30.

The whole30 community does one in January so you'll have an entire online support system.

Good luck and can't wait to follow your journey!!

I’m currently in the middle of my second round! On day 12! My fiancé joined me for this one and it helps so much. Honestly, it’s super easy after a while and truly does help you feel your best. The goal is not weight loss but I lost 13 pounds my first round! I HIGHLY recommend getting the day by day journal on amazon especially if someone is doing it for the first time. It’s fun to read what the creator says you’re likely going to be feeling that day and you can record your favorite meals, what you’re experiencing, etc. For example, I’m breaking out a lot right now and I noticed that this happened around the same time as my last round because my body is purging all of the toxins. I got a ton of recipes from Pinterest! There’s a lot of cooking involved and it takes a lot of effort but if you meal prep it’s easier. You definitely feel more energized, less dependent on food, and digesting is a lot easier. Even after a big whole 30 meal I feel light and satisfied. After my first whole 30 I went on vacation immediately after and didn’t have the time to do the re-introductory period so I just had everything at once and went right back to how I was eating. This time around I’m going to an extended, modified version to keep the lifestyle. Definitely recommend this to anyone!
